Scratches on MP9c Slide

This Thread is SIX years old! The OP made 5 posts in this thread and no more. Guns that get shot a lot show wear. As long as the barrel stays straight and the bullets come out the other end, don't worry about cosmetics! SIX YEARS OLD!

You could just take some Wet Or Dry abrasive paper and polish it away.

The shiny scratch is in black melonite. Polishing it would mean removing more melonite and increase the size of the shiny silver area rather than decrease it, making it look worse. This is the only pistol I have with this "scar". I believe this scratch is the symptom of a bigger problem. I want S&W to fix the cause of the problem. Since this scratch happened so quickly, I feel that long term use will make the problem worse.

UPDATE:

I've since found out from other threads with pictures of identical markings that this is indeed brass instead of scratches. It comes from the last round in the magazine. Cleaning helps but I don't think I will continue cleaning this pair of marks anymore since it isn't dirty residue that can harm the pistol. It will just add character. I still wonder why it only happens to M&P's.
