SD Triggers and Mag Extensions Coming Soon From Apex

Magazine extension look good. It will be nice to have 17 rounds per clip. I think. Clear or stainless steel will look very good! Can't wait to receive them

for 9mm its 3+16=19 rounds per mag with the extensions leading to a 19+1 overall bullet count....sounds meaty to me ;)

also scott,
how much do they wieght? reduced muzzle flip is always a nice add on.
now we need threaded barrels

Hey guys,

The Polymer SD Triggers were released this afternoon. They're up on our web page and available for sale immediately.

The bases are made from aluminum and are very light, the added mass of the additional ammo will help with muzzle flip more than anything else. I'm not inclined to make these from heavier materials simply because other materials are more expensive in most cases.

I expect the anodizing samples back mid week next week and will be shipping them out at that point.

scott is there a way to get a replacment trigger return spring? i stretched mine out and now it doesnt reset. im also ordering the sd aet tomorrow for one of my other sd's and from the picture it does seem to already be visably different. the length seems longer and the rear "lock mechinism" seems larger but it could be just my eyes. could you letme know if i can order the spring and trigger together?

Just ordered mine-can't wait to see how it goes with the Apex spring kit I already installed!!!!

We do sell additional trigger return springs. They're $13 and you have to call the office to order them since they're not available on the web page individually.

How did you stretch it out?

Scott

trying to make it slightly longer with pliers....i stubbed a toe while doing so and it didnt end well, thank you for your great CS btw.
ooo and another thing i was asking how many grams over stock are the mag plates, not asking for different materials but the wieght of a individual extension itself...

What was the purpose of trying to make it longer?

I'll run the calcs in the morning and let you guys know about the weight, but you're likely not even looking at 2oz.

thanks scott, the glock companies are always advertising the amount of reduced muzzle flip with their aluminum mag baseplates :) i figured i'd ask

on the sd9ve theres that "wiggle" at that contact point where the trigger bar contacts the sear, i was strecting it hoping it would apply enough pressure to make it less noticable. with the AEK installed it just seems much my pronounced, well if i just touch the trigger...thats when i hear that metal to metal sound. ive put the stock spring in for now. i was thinking of using heatshrink tubing on the sear finger next but depending on thickness it may just force the trigger bar down and away like iy has with other materials ive tried.
also i have drilled and added a set screw to stop over travel completley to the aek like some 1911 triggers and i think the wiggle room at the sear adds to the seemingly long pull of the SD trigger, with my set-up if i hold my trigger to wear it connects at the sear the pull is less than .25 inch, reset is the issue with the trigger. if it could be shortened then it would be a perfect pistol.

Trim a little metal off the ear on the sear. It will reduce the travel for reset by about 1/4 inch.

I'd bet a forged or bar stock striker assembly would sell well for the SD line.

towards the trigger or towards the rear would the grinding be done?

thakingcb7-you know after rereading what you said that was pretty dickish and if i didnt know any better i would of ruined my gun on account of taking your advice. who does that on a forum that supposed to help others with their firearms? especially when a gun has no replacement parts out.

I'd really consider not taking material off the trigger bar or sear surfaces. Polishing is all that's necessary to smooth things up.

It's your gun and you can do as you want to it.

I'm always leary of reducing over travel and pre-travel on DAO guns(the SD is a DAO striker fired gun). Reducing trigger stroke can cause problems with striker forces and induce light strikes.

If you go too far on your trigger bar or sear, you're going to have a tough time getting new factory parts, they're nearly impossible to find, at least they were a few months ago.

yes i keep forgetting s&w hasnt released parts as of yet for them...im glad i havent had a problem. do you have an estimate when the baseplate will be released?

The bag extensions will be released as soon as my anodizer gives me a time line for his work on the batches. We're waiting for the initial samples to show up.

Speaking of....the bases weight just under 17 Grams with the locking screw. As I said, they're light, but they'll add 3 rounds to your gun which will add weight at the start.

Scott @ Apex

I weighed 2 of my hornady critical duty's... One weighed 16.6g and the other weighed 16.5g. so weight wise for those considering using the extensions for daily carry... Just imagine the weight of an extra 4-5 bullets.

I do have 1 question though... Do these come with new mag springs or will the factory ones work with the added depth?
