I’ll just couldn't resist when I saw an SD40ve for $ 279.00 and took it home. But now I have the sd9 and sd40 and both look identical.
I found in the depth of the WWW the Birchwood Casey’s Perma Blue Liquid & Paste Gun Blue.

So in my mind I dreamed up to blue the sd40 slide to make a difference.
Have anyone worked with that product before? Does it work without becoming cloudy?

Thanx

Birchwood Casey offers you the best ways to touch up scratches and worn spots or even completely reblue most guns. It will give a non-streaky, even blue-black finish to steel (except stainless).

What do you mean by "except stainless"?
Does that mean that I cannot blue the stainless slide of the SD40ve?
Ohh-Kay - So I have to think about something else.

Thanx for your fast answer.

Hummm
What about spray paint the stainless SD40VE slide? Would this be possible? I hate to say that but I'll think that the stainless slide on a plastic gun just looks...... different.

I'm currently in school for gunsmithing, and one of my past classes covered this. While stainless steel (more specifically 416r, which is what the sd40ve is made of [I know because I also own one]) cannot be blued or browned in the traditional means, my instructor did inform me that DuraBlue has an aerosol product that can apply a coat of blue, blue/black, black, and brown, all in polished and matte. Here's the url if you want to take a look.

Nope, blue won't work in stainless. If you want it black, will need some sort of coating. Cerakoat will work, or some sort of other finish or paint.

The black Sigmas were Nitrided like their modern guns are. Stainless with the nitride surface treament.
