Ok so I decided the +p+ was too risky so I traded it to a buddy for a box of Underwood +p ammo.

Anyone on here use +p with your SD9? Any experiences you've had with the combo?

I think you'll get much of the same answers you got in your other thread about running ammo that is loaded over standard pressure.

Well yeah, but this one is allowed by S&W. I just wanted to know if anyone on here has put a few hundred +p rounds through their SD with no ill effects.

A friend has one, but he does not trust 9mm, so he uses nothing but +P+ 127 grain Winchester (the last ISP load before they switched to .40 S&W). He has gone through 4 or 5 cases of the stuff with no ill effects. Most companies, including S&W, refuse to warrant their pistols for +P+, not because they will blow up the gun, but because there is apparently no SAAMI spec for +P+. Stay with a recognized manufacturer such as Winchester, Federal, Hornady, Speer, Remington, etc., and you should be ok. Police departments use the stuff, so it is at most going to perhaps hasten the wear and tear, but I have certainly never noticed it.

My carry ammo is Golder Saber 124gr +p. Shoots straight. about 250 of it shot and no problems.

You will see decreased spring life as well as slide/frame battering. Additionally, you might start to see feeding issues due to spring wear. Won't happen for many hundreds of rounds and if you replace your springs at regular intervals, you might not see any wear for many a year.

As for +P rounds, I tend to go to DPX, Gold Dot, HST, Winchester Bonded, followed by Ranger T, Bonded Golden Saber, lastly, std. Golden Saber.

I usually replace springs every 5,000 rounds, with the exception of my BHP and Kahr, which I replace every 2,000. Glock recommends their recoil spring be replaced every 7,500 rounds.

With hammer pistols, I replace the recoil, hammer, and firing pin, springs.

With striker fired pistols, I replace the recoil and striker springs.

I also replace things like the trigger return springs and extractor springs, but do this on a less regular basis.

I do not replace magazine springs until I start to have a failure to feed situation when the bullet nose dives into the feed ramp. Much of magazine springs tension comes from inserting the last round into the magazine.

I do not have enough rounds through my SD to think about this stuff yet.
