SD9VE Magazine spring strength.

I was wondering, is there any good way to make the magazines for a SD9VE easier to load? It's hard for me to hand load mine and I just can't afford to buy a loader for it at the moment, just curious what my fellow SD9 owner's have done to help them with this sort of situation

I'm in the same boat - I just use two thumbs but the last round in a 10 or 16 round magazine is just about impossible, especially when I was shooting at an outdoor range on a cold day. I'm looking towards getting a loader but it's hard to decide what might fit the magazine.

There is a youtube video (or a post on this forum) demonstrating how to cut down the magazine follower to solve that last-round problem. I don't plan to do any carving on my magazines. I will be quite happy to live with one less round.

Purchase an Uplula magazine loader. Best investment you'll ever make. In time, the springs will ease up but, in the meantime, the Uplula makes it a breeze

The best way is to run it for a few weeks with less than a full load (13-14). It will losses as it wears in. You may also want to pull the bottom plates and carefully clean and lubricate the inside of the mag to get it working smoother. Run you finger up and down inside the mag to see it there are any sharp burrs that might be causing un-needed drag on the follower.

It will fit 16 after some use. The springs need to relax. Keep them semi loaded and gradually work in more rounds...getting that last one in will eventually get easier.

Awesome, thank's for all the advice, I'm going to look into getting Upula Magazine Loader for now and I'll definitely have to short load it so that that mag spring eases up over time.

Another vote for this. You will be able to load all 16 as fast as you can pick up the cartridges from the box!!

MAG SPRINGS

Just leave the mags loaded, until they loosen up. I kept a couple of 1984 Sig 226 9mm mags fully loaded 24/7 for 25 years, they got nice and relaxed, yet still worked fine. I eventually changed the springs. I normally keep mags unloaded except for a few s/d ones, & try to rotate them. Having at least 5 mags per gun is a +.

Hangnoose, I normally always have both my mag's loaded, unfortunetly right now i just can't afford to get a few more mags so I only have the 2 that the gun came with. I'm looking into getting a few more but I'm actually surprised the SD9 mag's are quite expensive, I heard that the Sigma mag's will function in a SD9, is that true?

One more quick question, didn't wanna make a new topic so I thought I would ask here. Can the SD9 barrel be threaded to compensate for a suppressor?

Those loaders seem to be a large mark up item. I'm quite willing to settle for one round or two less.

Why is 10 or 16 a magic number, (even lower for the .40)?

To me, they seem cheap considering the time they save, avoiding wear and tear on your fingers and the frequency of use........especially when considering some pay $35 for a small steel rod that improves what and does what? Rook
