Yup. It's like a trim level for a car, to me. Chevy Silverado work truck vs. GMC Sierra sorta thing.

To me comparing the SD9VE to the soon to be or just been released, not sure, M&P Compact V2 is like comparing apples to oranges. If the M&P has the same or simular trigger, grip texture, and inter changeable back straps, that today's M&Pv2 has then it's a completely different gun. The only thing the same is the size and they both shoot bullets at what they are pointed at.

I look forward to checking them out but wish they made it more like the size of a G26 or the size of the current 9c.

The SD9VE is a fine gun. Don't own one but I may at some point.

Economically, this is an apples & oranges comparison, as there's still a roughly $200 difference in the two pistols, so I don't think either one is encroaching on the other's territory.
The SD9 is largely appealing to a more budget-minded market, so the more expensive new M&P isn't likely to cut into it's market-share, or visa versa.
