SD9VE Warranty

I bought mine last November and it has been flawless until a couple of light strikes last week (almost a year without a single malfunction). Not one single misfire of any kind and I put 100-150 rounds through it every Saturday. I just started having some light strike issues but I found a video that shows brass shavings that need to be cleaned out from the striker block and fire pin mechanism from time to time. Law of averages say that if more are being purchased (because of the price) you'll see a higher percentage of this product than others that have fewer sales.

This is why you buy a glock. I have had a Glock 19 for 25 years. That original gun with 8000-10000 rounds still works fine. Glocks are simple, easy to maintain, parts are available and they are cop proven.

I am not a LEO but the MTBF for LEO use has to be higher than the MTBF for civilian use.

Glocks aren't perfect...and in fact, there were a lot of issues with the late Gen3 and Gen4 models...RSA and ejector problems, if I recall. In any event, I think S&W has much better service than Glock.

I don't know what MTBF means..."Maybe The Block Functions" perhaps? :D

I read some articles a few weeks ago where the new generation Glock slides were actually "FALLING" off of the lower part/slide rails!

New Glock 17Ms Recalled Because the Slides Fell Off - AllOutdoor.com

MTBF is shorthand for Mean Time Between Failures.
In other words, frequency of failures. Like once per 1000 rounds or once per 5000 rounds etc...

BC38, are you a Glock owner/supporter?

Nope.I don't own a single one. Never even had an opportunity to shoot one. Though I've handled a few at gun stores and shows. Their looks always turned me off, though from what I've understood they are very reliable and solid guns.

I only own a couple of polymer bottom feeders, almost all of my guns are steel or other metal alloys - and well over half of them are revolvers.

Why do you ask?

I won't deny price was a heavy variable in my decision but i did fire a Glock 40 on one occasion before i purchased my own first firearm and it did not leave enough of an impression on me to say, "yep, this is the one for me". And i didn't care for the grip design with those "fingers" either. The countless positive reviews for the SD9VE/40V, price and that S&W logo sealed the deal.

I took your answer for what MTBF means out of context. IOW, I was looking at your answer as a Pro Glock supporter. Please don't ask me to explain, because, I'm not even sure........:D

OK, well, FWIW, I was giving the answer from the perspective of an engineer.
MTBF is a common term in the fields of engineering and product development/testing.
