Curious, were there a lot of these Miramar School guns out there. This piece has almost no wear of any kind and I picked it up a few months back for a song. Does the engraved letters add our distract from the value. I was happy to get it because it filled my 6 inch needs. This gun dates from about 63.

Agency markings, particularly if crudely etched or "Electro Penciled" will usually detract from value except to a collector looking for a gun from that agency. Is that San Diego Unified School District? That was my guess but I have never seen a school district with issued handguns.

It looks like you and I probably grew up in the same era, when there was no school police - now larger cities have their own school police departments, complete with specific vehicles, uniforms, etc. I think it was uncommon in 1963 but Miramar is in the San Diego area so it makes sense.

I understand Miramar Collage had a School for Security and Police training and these guns were part of those courses.

There have been some postings made here previously about SDUSD-Miramar guns. I think it was in regard to the law enforcement training program at Miramar College, and these revolvers were used for instructional purposes. I don't remember any other details. There are probably not too many of them around, and there is a cadre of police-marked gun collectors who might be interested in buying one. Other than to such collectors, I doubt that the markings add much, if any, to the value, and may even detract.
