My wife has an M&P, which is a great handgun after we put the Apex trigger in it, and she loves it. I've fired it many times and it's a fine weapon. That being said, I picked up a SD40VE for my IWB/OWB carry gun (I shoulder carry a 1911 at times) after trying it out at the range and reading reviews from gun reviewers I trust. I love the grip angle and the way the gun sits in my hand. It feels very natural. Quality wise I see very little to fault this weapon so it's price point makes it a real bargain. Sure it doesn't have all the extras of a M&P, ambi magazine eject or adjustable grips but that is what helps to cut down on the costs. I'm not sure about the plastic guide rod though, Galloway's Steel rod seems popular and may likely be the only upgrade I'll install. I bought the Apex trigger spring set, but I think I try to get used to the stock trigger pull.
