Shooting gulls is illegal under Federal law. The fines run $5,000 to $10,000. The fine is the same even if your dog aprehends one. Thats a bit too spendy for me. See

One of my favorite vacation pictures (Film or I'd share it) is where I dumped a whole box of Cheez-its on the hood of the rental car and hopped in down around Destin. All you can see out the windshield is a big ol' white bird wrestle royal.
I like birds.

This topic reminds me of a story where an Alaska Game Warden came across an old trapper who was roasting birds on his camp fire.

The Warden asked what was for dinner, the trapper says Sea Gulls. The Warden freak and told the trapper they were protected. The Trapper said he was hungry and they were handy.

Warden desides to let the trapper off with a warning, then ask what they taste like.

Trapper says "taste something like between a spotted owl and a golden eagle.
