Sea Patrol: Superb TV show, addictive...

Just finished watching the first session.
Watched it on youtube on my Samsung Smart TV.
It is an excellent show!
Thanks for telling us about it.
Any more TV shows or movies on utube that we need to know about?

I was a member of the old Official New Line Cinema Fan Board of, "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World" and have been on additional boards about the show. Have all three seasons on DVD. Have kind of a crush on Finn, the blonde chick with the black shorts and crossbow, who arrived halfway through the Third Season, and on Veronica, who owned the big treehouse where they lived.

You can find some full episodes of that Australian-made 1999-2002 show on YouTube. I recently posted the two-hour intro movie here in French, for Patvince and our other French members. You can check the back pages for a couple of weeks and see it, but the format was compacted a little. I'd suggest finding it and subsequent episodes in English. They're better formatted, like you'd usually see on your TV screen in first run episodes.

The show is still seen in re-runs in many nations, dubbed in several languages. It has a a very loyal fan base.

It was made by the producers of, "Xena" and,
"Beastmaster", but had better financing and better actors, props, etc. Jennifer O'Dell was the only US cast member, playing Veronica. Prof. Challenger was played by a fine NZ actor. The rest were Australian, save for two Canadians, one playing an American reporter, Ned Malone. (Some roles were altered from Doyle's book, for the better, I think.)

I believe that this book has been made into five movies over the decades since its 1912 debut, and into three TV series. This one was the best portrayal of the subject, with talented actors and pretty good plots, although I preferred the jungle adventure episodes over those with a lot of sci-fi content.

Sometimes, you can see the whole series on YouTube. Other times, some copyright claim is made by a current broadcaster and it's harder to find episodes.

Are you kidding, Sea Hunt with Mike Nelson. That was one of my favorites. Never realized he was an anti gunner but then again I was between 8 and 11 when the series was on TV.

If I'd have known that then I would have cut his air hose. ;)

Wife and I are halfway through the third season. We like the show but the Australian Navy is not run the same way the US Navy is. They have some really stupid sailors and some really lax officers.

But we keep watching. A statement on how bad US TV is.

Cut to the chase. How do the wimmin' look?

Kate is "okay", just "fairly attractive", in my book. She's the XO.

The Navigator, Nikki, is a good solid 9, maybe 10, and Bomber is about the same. Bird is about a 8.7632 on the 10 scale.

You can see Bomber with a CZ-85 if you click my link to do that above. But she has on an assault vest, so looks stockier than she is. She shows good muscle tension with the gun. May have actually fired one.

If I was wanting to date them, I'd go for Nikki or Bomber.
Keep in mind the guest stars. Yvonne Strahovski was in one episode before she came to the USA to be in, "Chuck." See her in Net pics, some not suitable for this board, although they were on TV.

I feel sure that most of the women were intended to attract male viewers. It worked on me...

Yvonne Strahovsky ? Which episode??? Hurry up!!!!

Try Season 1, episode 13. That's the season finale, too, with an emotional ceremony at the last where the first ship is stood down and the crew are in dress uniforms, with officers wearing swords. Pretty impressive. I looked up the swords. A bout like Royal Navy ones, but plainer fittings on the scabbards.

Yvonne used a slightly different spelling of her last name then. The real name is too complex for most Anglos to manage. I saw her on a talk show here explaining that.
