FWIW, my favorite method of joining two wires is the Harbor Freight crimp connectors with the shrink tubing lined with hot glue around them. When you shrink them the hot glue melts and seals the shrink tubing to the wire.
They come in 3 colors/sizes (small = blue, medium = red, large = yellow).
Very inexpensive, and when installed with a good crimping tool they are permanent, water tight, corrosion resistant, neat & clean.
Give 'em a try.

Similar to Prussian Blue. Buy small tube. Take home. Open cap, but do not use. 2 hours later it's on the toilet seat, your glasses, the cat and inside the cookie tin. Amazing.
