What am I doing wrong as I try to search for info on a Model 648.......when I type "Model 648" I get every post with the word "model" in it. When I just put in "648" I get a message there are no matches. Maybe I'm too stupid to own a gun! Thanks

I've never been able to successfully use the search program since the changeover myself. I get the same results as you. I try "Model 66" , I try Model #66", .. and get threads that never mention the Model 66. In fact, at the top of the results page, it indicates the search is for "Model" or "66" - not "Model 66", which was what I typed in. I've never seen a satisfactory explanation of why some of us don't get the results advertised in the Forum directions.

Despite the many advantages of the new Forum format, I could actually USE the search function on the old one.

I would ask the mods for some further instruction for those of us with this technical deficiency.

Regards,

Jerry

paperboy98:

3 characters is too short a string (i.e.--may not be allowed to prevent a long search time and billions of results) so try "648*". The asterisk is a placeholder.

j38:

If it's any consolation, almost all 'modern' forums have the same problem. You can try Model+66 (the plus sign *sometimes* works in keeping the search string together). You can try an advanced search [rather than the default/simple search] where you tell it that you want exactly "Model 66". That should work.

edit *66* seems to work so let's hear it for the might asterisk. :D end of edit

HTH,

Chris
