Searching for 3rd Gen holsters?

Holster Up

Great post info and pics (18DAI-always spot on).

18, Do you happen to have a pic of the back side of the "Roadie and SIS?" Like them both very much. Only 1 belt slot on them? Holds against body well?

Have contacted Gordon; great guy, deciding what to have him make.

1st-6906 (square trigger gaurd) + 3913 (round trigger gaurd). Possible same holster for both. Trigger gaurd could be an issue.

2nd-457 Hill Country Sports Two Tone. Possible fit 4513TSW No Rail 6 rd mag.

As always thanks to those who know way, way more than me...and share it with us.

Best, Dave

Gordon's Work

In Gordon's email was a couple of pics. "Rhodesian style holster that I just finished for another member's 4586."

Noted 1 belt loop. Any feedback on how this carries/fit to the body/floppy?

6906-3913-457-4513TSW No Rail models carry alittle better than bigger frame?

His work is really cool.

HYPURR I have worn the Rhodesian for going on 3 weeks. With both my 4566 and my 4563TSW - Rail free. The holster fits both guns - extremely well.

And I have experienced ZERO movement on the belt and absolutely no "flop". I use a Nexbelt gunbelt with it.

While mine are new and have not seen a lot of use, yet, I can reference another product of Gordons that I have used weekly for the past 3 years. A very nice IWB holster with two straps to anchor it to the belt. Gordon made it for me for use with my CS45. And wearing it while working during two NC summers, sweating in the heat and humidity, it is still like new. No collapsing, no movement. When positioned - it stays put. So well made, I have yet to tighten the discreet tension screw he installed on it.

Buy with confidence. It will not move or flop. In the unlikely event it did, PM me and I will buy it from you. Hows that for confidence in a product? ;) :) Regards 18DAI

More Gordon

18 appreciate the offer and confidence in Gordon's Product! Lucky for you we are both Leftys (not a political leaning just a "hand" preference):)

Gordon info he provided about the holsters:

The Rhodesian has the single tunnel loop on the rear. It is a pretty wide loop and actually pulls the butt pretty close to the body. The SIS has the narrower rear tunnel loop with the trailing belt slot. I doesn't tuck the butt quite as close to the body as the Rhodesian. The Rhodesian's mouth is cut right at the top of the belt and the mouth of the SIS is about 1/2" above the belt. They are both pretty fast to draw from and are both fairly high riding and comfortable when seated. 18DAI originally ordered the SIS, but, I think he actually likes the Rhodesian a bit better.

> 18 thoughts on this: Interest in CCW/EDC carry seems the Roadie is the one to choose for my 6906 and 457. I like the ability to disappear under a Golf Shirt. I do like the SIS style maybe 1 of each...which gun for which?

I use a KORE Belt. Holsters are a tough choice for the non pro among us. I'm just a Cowboy...

For reference a pic of my 1989 6906 Square Trigger Gaurd "TT."
BIANCHI 105 straight drop used for my S&W Shield 9. It works quite well for the 6906.

Thanks to this forum and info it provides. Best, Dave

If concealment is the primary requirement, then the Rhodesian is the best choice. Your 6906 should be concealeable under an untucked Golf shirt in that model holster. It does pull the gun butt in closer to the body.

Had I known of the design prior to contacting Gordon, I may not have ordered the S.I.S. It does everything I need pretty well. But I am slightly faster out of the S.I.S. Probably due to the lower cut front. Both are finely made holsters that I am glad to have. Regards 18DAI

Thanks to this thread I have also contacted Gordon and have an SIS model being made for my M&P 2.0 Compact. Very much looking forward to receiving the holster and it's been a real pleasure communicating with Gordon.

Bump to the top ...... for those looking for well made holsters for S&W 3rd Gen autos!

Got more holsters than I need; including the "Big Box-O-Holsters" most serious shooters/concealed carriers accumulate over the decades.

LOL that Rhodesian calls out to me every time I drop by this thread.....looks like it would make a great OWB carry for a 3913. Gorden made me a modified pancake (think Don Hume 721 with reinforced mouth) for my 3913 about 6 years ago which now gets more use with my PC Shorty-9. Cus a Performance Center gun from the 90's deserves the very best!!! :D

Thinking about it; while I generally conceal carry, since about 1987, in a Milt Sparks Summer Special or Executive Companion, some of which are over 25 years old. When I OWB a 3rd Gen Smith it's generally in a holster made by Gordon..... the only exception is a Don Hume H726 holster when I want the extra retention of a thumbsnap.

I have the Rhodesian (thanks to this thread) for my 4566 and have been carrying my Recon 45 in it quite a lot. I dont mind the empty 1/2” at the bottom of the holster and it carries beautifully.
Gordon does excellent work!

Waiting for the wife to go vote in the Pa. primary .... giving me too much time to think.

Seeing Squidsix's and 18DAI's post on the Rhodesian and their 4566s.....
While I don't concealed carry my 4566... I do cc a similar size Beretta 92 Compact in a Sparks Summer Special; but don't have any good OWB holsters that are good for concealed carry...... I could use the same holster with my 92 Centurion at the range.

Gordon on it..

Gordon has started cutting both the Roadie for my 6906 (+ Mag Pouch) and SIS for my 457. Will post pics when they arrive. Awesome to have choices other than the usual suspects.

Glad to see you fellows are getting a quality product from a quality gentleman.

I hope he continues to make his fine leather holsters for us for a long time to come. Regards 18DAI

Ok, not a Gen 3 but just posting for a shout out to 18DAI for the referral to Gordon. Just received the SIS for my M&P 2.0 Compact. Really happy with it, fast service and appears to be a fine example of workmanship.

Going to let the gun sit in it overnight then will hit the range tomorrow to run my regular drills and will report back.

Nice holster ............ sorry about the gun!

:D

He sent me one for my CS9 not long ago . 18DAI , I'm sure you know the story behind it . I'm not one much for carrying unless I'm traveling . I was up in NC last week and used his quality work , and it fit perfectly . I contacted him about one for my CS40/10mm , but he wasn't sure if he was going to start making them for us . But he did say it would keep him in ammo , so maybe we'll be lucky .

cherrypointmarine you may want to shoot Gordon an Email. ;)

Attached is the CS45 IWB Holster he made for me 3 years ago. I wear it several days a week. In fact I have been using it all weekend on duty, with my CS45. Still looks new and to date I have not had to touch the retention screw.

Only IWB holster I own that you don't have to remove to reholster the gun. See if he will make you one for your CS9.

Next time you are in NC, if you get near Greensboro drop me a line. Lunch is on me and we will go shooting. Best regards, 18DAI

That's a southpaw version, yah?

So, no ambi safety lever, grinding into your belly?

Using a Bianchi Pro 100 for a CS9 now. It has the
extended belly-side slide flap (which I like, as a
righty) and closed muzzle (which I don't like--it
adds an extra 5/8" or so of length).

I'd like to get a (RH) open muzzle holster that
covers full slide length, and has flap on belly side
to shield slide from belly (and vice versa). 4013,
4513TSW (maybe...if she ain't too fat!) and CS9.

I have been wearing the Recon 45 in mine for a while. I really like the holster. It is lightning fast and very secure. The pistol clicks into it like kydex.
My only issue is my body haha! I lost a lot of weight this year, and now where I had love handles there is daylight between me and my pistol. Also I have less real estate on the belt, which is what drew me to this holster all along. It takes up very little belt space.
Shown is the Rhodesian holster, with both a 4566 and Recon 45 (4513) and an Aker 1.75” double layer pistol belt. For comparison I am 6 feet, 190 pounds. 33 pants.
