my factory letter makes no mention of the original finish of my 2nd model he .44 special. the hammer and trigger are color cased and there is this small n on the right side under the grip panel.
i know the newer ones had a larger n stamped for an original nickel finish.
does this smaller n mean the same thing?

Does the letter make any reference regarding the original finish like that the info wasn't available or something along those lines? It seems unusual for that info to not be included.

Is there an "N" anywhere else on the gun?

the letter only stated that the guns came in nickel and blue and all the barrel lengths that were offered.
it never said which mine was, pretty useless, huh?

don't see another n on the gun.

"we hope that the information furnished will be helpful as well as of interest to you."

and that is it.
never a peep as to original barrel length or finish.

Is your letter fairly recent? You can call the historian, Mr Jinks, during the week and ask him about it. It is possible that there was no further information available when he did your letter, due to a clerk's error back in '23.

the letter is from 1986.
i would surely call mr. Jinks, as he is the one that signed my letter.
