SECOND SHIELD, SECOND TRIGGER JOB

Finally got yesterday a SHIELD for one of my boys. ACADEMY sports transferred for me from one store in South Texas to Sugar Land at my request after finding out they had one in stock. I paid $399.99 plux Tax.

On this gun since its for my boy I just rounded off the Striker Block and left the spring intact. I polished the striker, modified the sear to reduce over travel and reduce trigger reset distance and then polish it.
I can not tell you how much trigger pull was reduced but the action is very smooth, it has a quick trigger reset and the shaking of the front sight that you get when you dry fire from the release of the striker is totally gone!! It should be great at the range tomorrow!!

Thanks. I hope the pictures are self explanatory. When polishing the striker block I had both drills going in opposite directions. viously you only need one.

Sometimes you will find a burr in the striker block tunnel that causes a gritty trigger.

I've had amazing results pulling the USB, putting a drill bit wrapped in fine sandpaper (1000 grit or higher) into the tunnel and de-burring the hole.

Then polishing the striker bar is a huge step also. If you look at the striker bar where it touches the USB under magnification, you will see a very rough surface on the bar.

I actually had to stone the bar first, then polish it with a dremel pad and polishing compound.

I got the trigger on my M&P45c so smooth now, I have no feeling of resistance on the take-up. It's almost too smooth if that's possible. I pull the trigger back to the point where it engages the sear and that's where the pressure starts.

On one of my Shield's I reduced the pull to around 5 pounds. It started at 7 to 7.5, and was gritty.
