Thanks Alk, I have called some, mixed receptions.
Most of the listed duty weapons were current as of 2015, did read the Iowa article and it did not specify what the current handgun was .
Sounds like a mess.

Reason posted here are two fold, used to be a lot of retired Troopers on here that probably would know what various agencies were currently carrying. Also the vast general gun knowledge here figured there might be several that recognized what their local Troopers were carrying..

Iowa had S&W semi autos but Glock protested the bid process the last I knew they have Glocks

Well… That's not the story I got. That is largely the opposite of my understanding of the truth, in fact.

Undisputed was the new M&P pistols received in 2015 were not serviceable. Smith's response as an OEM was inadequate and though some M&Ps were issued, there was never a full issuance of 600+ pistols.

There was significant media reporting that the certain procurment authorities may have received undue compensation from Smith or otherwise violated ethics laws to retain S&W pistols (4046s to M&Ps). The previous types were 686 and 66 if I recall correctly.

The real clincher was this - a very recently retired sergeant went to work as a regional sales representative for Smith & Wesson shortly after leaving state employment in 2013.

Iowa takes public corruption very seriously. There was an external investigatory team brought in, which determined there wasn't sufficient proof for an indictment. However, a number of careers were ended in short order.

Without sounding conspiratorial, I am familiar with other details of the story that aren't in the public media. Iowa's decision was absolutely a result of Smith's quality issues as well as business decisions that might be permissible in Massachusetts, but did not comport with the State of Iowa's expectations.

The issuance of Glocks across the Iowa DPS sworn officers has been seen as a success at the nine-year mark.
