I have had a lawn boy for about three years now and would not buy anything else. It has that handle that controls the speed when you push on it so you can walk as fast or as slow as you want. I paid about $450 for it and I think its worth it.
Where did you get him-at the border or the Home Depot parking lot??

I can picture ssdohc sitting in a lawn chair drinking a cold beer with a handle poking his "lawn boy" making him go faster.

So far nobody has mentioned Honda. Bought one last year based on Consumer Reports recommendations. There are levers on the handle to vary speed, operated by your thumbs (or just one thumb). When you stop or let go of the handle, the blade stops turning but the engine continues to run so you don't need to restart. Very maneuverable around obstacles. Mine recycles the clippings into the lawn, since I prefer not to bag the clippings. At the time I bought it there were 3 models. I bought the middle-priced one (about $600), and it is worth every penny.

I also bought a Honda, I got mine two years ago. I got the top end one and it does not miss a beat. Just used it for the first time this last weekend, filled it up and it started on second pull.

Am I the only guy here that takes an old lawnmower that the neighbors don't want to repair again, rebuild the carb, change the oil, do a tune up, and use it for another seven to ten years???

I just picked up a new Toro. I appreciate all the help guys.

Nothing runs like a Deere! Just don't get the top model. My nieghbor had one and someone stole it out of his garage in broad daylight while the wife was at home.
He went down to the local lawn and tractor shop and bought the base model the next day, and by golly it cuts his yard just as well as the first one did for less than half the price.
I've had one for several years and it runs just fine. I think I changed the oil a couple of times. I might even buy her a spark plug one of these days!

I use a 20" cut push mower. Over the years I have learned that in order to be any good, the mower must have a black engine and a red chassis. I have found that any other color combination just costs more money and isn't as good. I bought a black and green mower one time that turned out to be the biggest POS ever. Remember whay I say-get a black and red one and if you pay over $150-you paid too much.

Agree about the Honda. Starts every time, almost always on first pull. I use mine for trimming so it doesn't run for very long when use it. Best powered push mower I've owned.
