Serial number Mags?

So I stumbled across this SW Mag. I’m a revolver guy so not that knowledgeable regarding autos. Did S&W serial numbered their mags to a specific pistol? What Pistol does this mag fit?

That is a 15 round 5900 series magazine made for law enforcement/government use during the Clinton ban. The serial number was the date the ban went into effect - 9/13/94.

That magazine is a monument to political stupidity! During the failed federal assault weapons ban, manufacturers were required to serialize and date any magazine produced for military, police or export that was capable of holding more than 10 rounds.

All of S&W's magazines that held more than 10 rounds made after the Clinton era capacity ban went into effect carry that serial number and were marked as restricted for law enforcement use.
