Gentlemen,
I hate to bother anyone with this request, but I can't afford (at this time) the proper book to look up a serial number on a S&W revolver. I just wish to know when this model 36 (no dash) was made. I'm thinking the 50's, sometime.
Model 36, 2", blue, square butt, serial #691103.
I just took possession of it today, as I had a model 37 that was starting to seriously hurt my right hand c/w arthritis. I've had 2 operations on this hand already, and don't wish to aggravate the condition further.
Any help c/w this serial number look-up is appreciated.

No problem if it still has the flat latch cylinder thumb release it also may be a 66. Does it still have the dymond checkered grips on it. They discontinued them in 68.

No flat latch, can't check the grips since I'm at work. I think they are diamonds, however.
Have owned a lot of 36's but never one without a dash; seems like a nice revolver.
Thanks, again.
