Serial numbers...

As long as there are people asking for serial number info, someone must be buying these old Smiths! I will answer their question, if I can, and do not mind it at all. I have the time and the SCSW, so I am good to go. Good buy BDH! Enjoy it. There is a world of S&W info there.

JCS&W I have a 6906 that has a serial # of TZZ45XX any idea when it was made? Thanks

I just picked up a gorgeous model 59 in original box, with all papers, including the brown wrapper. I am sure it has been shot, but I can't tell if it has. Anyways, the serial # is A409xxx. Just woindering when it was born.

I'm new to this forum as of yesterday. I used to have a phone number direct to Smith and Wesson to call about serial numbers and have done so some time in the last 3 years but cant find it now. Benefits of aging I guess.

I have what used to be ca S&W hand ejector in .38special. 5 screw model and for purposes is just a forerunner of the model 10. I am thinking that it was made around 1930-1940 and rumored to have been carried by one of the syndicate guys that took care of the sot machines in my county. Being close to Chicago, be interest in nailing down date.

Serial is 574XXX. No prefix so figure before the 1950's. Can anyone help out on this. THEN I can go buy the book.

Hi Sarge,
Welcome to the Forum.
You posted in the semi-auto forum, not that there is anything wrong with that. You will get better traffic if you create a new post with the details of your revolver in the Hand Ejector 1896-1961 forum at the top of the main page. BTW, I believe your's shipped sometime in the mid to late 20's as I have one fairly close to yours that shipped in 1931. Good luck and Happy New Year!!
