Seriously?

They should be able to call and ask for a supervisor. They can either fix it or advise why. Should have done this at the gun shop.

Here in Texas no need to call it in of you have a concealed handgun license. Which h speeds up the process. Hope issues get resolved. Goodluck

LOL! Here in NY, even a Police Officer has to pass the NCIS check....its such a joke here!

It makes it so much better that way show your CHL and out the door you go just as it should be

Thought it might have been Bureau of Gun Control. Scary.

In FL we have to pass the FDLE background check including NICS even though you have a CCWL. The only advantage of having the CCWL is that you can take possesion of your firearm the same day of purchase and do not have to wait the mandatory 3 Day waiting period the State demand.

Here in Va. you have to have 2 forms of i.d. with the same address. They either call you in or do it through the computer. If you clear, you take possession immediately. And they just recently removed out one gun a month law. Now we can buy as many as we can pay for at one time. I feel for you guys in states that have unnecessary restrictions.

As well as any where else. Just being a peace officer or law enforcement officer is not enough to skip the check nationwide!

In Nebraska, after the NICS and backround check is completed, the state issues a Firearm Purchase Certificate that you must have to purchase a Firearm. It is good for three years and can be renewed every three years. Possession of the Firearm occurs at the time of sale. CHL is not required to purchase, only to carry concealed.

Here is North Carolina, You have to obtain a pistol purchasing permit from the local Sheriff. They do all of the checks for you. The Sheriff's office can deny you if there is something questionable on your record. If you have a Concealed carry license than you can go straight to the gun store and pick up a gun. Law enforcement officers in NC can go to a gun store and buy a gun with their law enforcement ID, and a quick call into the ATF.

i thought i was the only one who had to deal with this....in 7 yrs. of buying guns, 12 guns and counting....i was denied once, delayed 7 or 8 times and maybe only 3 times was able to walk out with gun on same day. it really pisses me off that im a responsible citizen and i get such a hassle when i want to buy a new gun.

Two things you can do about it: 1 move outta Mass and 2 next help get rid of the current people in power in your State and national government by voting it is your right to do so!

During one background check it came up that I also spell my first name Timohty which obviously is a mistake. If I wanted to pass the check I had to write it down in the alias or other names used box. So I did, whatever. I asked where they got that from and was told dept. of motor vehicles. When I went over to the DMV, they knew nothing about it. It's never come up in recent checks and somewhere out there, there is my signature on a piece of paper that says I use Timohty as an alias.

Great news, yet not unexpected. After appeal, back ground check cleared. Pick up my M&P 40 soon.

No reason, just, you are approved.

Believe me I was trying to unfog the past and figure out what it could be.

Never got caught on the good stuff... ;-)

They have to give you a reason...

The NICS people do have to give the customer a reason, but they will NOT tell the dealer why as it is private information for the customer, and I believe the customer has to write in for the reason or appeal. I know the NICS people will NOT talk to the customer on the phone when the dealer is doing the NICS check.

Since you got cleared, it may be a similar name or other personal information type issue. You can get a "Unique Personal Identifier," which you put on your 4473 and that will avoid the problem in the future, if the problem is one that something about your personal information is too close to a prohibited person.
