The gun show at the cow palace in san francisco this weekend opened at 9am on Saturday. My cousin and I got there at 9:15 and already saw people with hand carts rolling out the ammo. By the time we got inside, all of the .45's were sold out (which is almost all he shoots). I got the last box of 1000 .38 special reloads, but all the .357's were gone. People in front of me were buying 5k and 10k rounds at a time.

Shouldn't you be reloading if you are buying 10k rounds? Wouldn't that be more cost effective?

Sorry, I know the last thing we need is another complaint about ammo, but my wife doesn't understand me when I was ranting to her. I know you guys at least feel my pain.

.....
That's a rational conclusion. Panic buying is by definition irrational.

Last gun show I was at (2 weeks ago) A vendor there was buying 45 acp, Putting 10 rounds in a ziplock and putting it out on his table for $8 a bag and they were selling my next time past.
You may find what you saw sell on GB by now already marked up!
I am glad everyone isn't like that!

If I lived in S.F. I would have stocked up on ammo years ago.

He thought he was adequately stocked, but we have been on a mission to convert gun haters into NRA life members. That takes a lot of ammo....

Apparently they didn't have much ammo if it sold out so quickly.

In Mid April the big ammo dealer at the Reno show was selling at 100 mph for the entire three days of the show. People were waiting in line for 2-3 hours just to get to his tables.

Heard he sold $1.2 MILLION on Friday alone.
