Cleaned my minty new SD9VE after 100 rounds and noticed the striker tab is sheared off on the right corner. It looks like the right-front corner just broke off. The striker is still working, but I think a replacement is in order. Anyone ever experience this?

oOOOoo i could not see how that could happen unless there wass a stress in the metal and the force of the striker striking must of broke it. that when firing the striker hiting the plastic piece enough to do it?lol i couldnt see the second one happening but anythings possible. are you the original owner or in the first year of the original purchase? if so send it to s&w for repair.

Yeah, just bought it brand new. S&W has assigned a ticket number so I guess I'll see.

When I took my SD9 apart to "polish" certain parts, I noticed that the face of the striker looked like it had a seam running down the center of it as if it was a "two-piece" component.

Considering the size of the the part, I'd be amazed to find that is the case, but it sure looks that way as there was, in my eyes a seam that ran down the face of the striker...

Yeah thanks, I should have thought of that...

Well, it used to have a seam on it! ;-)

Does the newly exposed metal of the striker look porous? Probably a bad casting.

Wish I could post photos. My sheared striker tab looks like it broke off perfectly down the middle taking off the right corner. Still works, but can't figure out how that happened.

Smith & Wesson will be replacing the striker. Just hope I don't have to send the gun, too.

The experience ( nightmare ) I'm having with S&W, they will want the gun.

That what SUCKS about S&W and this gun.

I would call C.S. and ask them if they have that part in stock.

According to them parts for this gun are on backorder for at least 3 months, as of last week.

Who knows though, I've been lied to so much by them.

Good Luck, 3

parts are on backorder for alot of these parts due to them servicing and not selling to a distributor. i would look into what i mentioned aboved if its a 3+ week wait

the m&p striker looks exactly alike and its $30 from midway heres the link.. the tubes are even the same i would just switch the springs with yours
Smith & Wesson Striker Assembly S&W M&P M&P Compact 9mm Luger 357 Sig

One thing different for sure would be where the striker safety block sits. I'm not sure about the length of the shaft though. The striker for the Glock 19 looks the same except there is no "foot" on the striker lug and the flat pin. S&W need to release the parts specifically for this pistol so that curiosity doesn't get someone hurt.
