Shed hunters?

Last 2 antlers I found were still attached the skull. A small 6 pointer, probably a starvation death, most of the skeleton was right there too. Cleaned it up and kept it for a couple of years, then gave it to one of my friend's kids. I hear it is still on his bedroom wall.
I wish I had more time to shed hunt. Especially in and around some of the moose swamps.

Good finds!
But, I have to admit I started to read this post thinking one of two things had happened:
-someone had shot your backyard shed up; or,
-you had great luck hunting from your shed this past hunting season.
Just never can tell what will turn up next! Another reason I like this forum!
Hate to say this-but that is what I thought-a thread on the ethical issues of shooting a deer from your shed. You ought to be very worried-you're starting to think like me!

I can't recall where, but do recall that some jurisdiction, such as a National Forest, had banned the collection of sheds, as their collection depleted an essential and naturally occurring source of calcium and other nutrients for rodents (and other small animals?).

I've heard that too, and I know that rodents will dispose of bones quite neatly given time.

It used to be that shed antlers were in demand to use in "rattling up" bucks in hunting season, but now they probably have plastic ones...:(
