Saw this this morning on the news. Nice to see the sheriff of a larger city telling the truth, and not lying and covering it up. Not telling everyone that you'll be fine, and everything is all roses.

This is close to home!! About 60 miles from me, maybe less.

This is what I tell people, and what has been repeated on this forum quite a bit. The police won't be there when you need them unless maybe you get mugged in a police station or while you are stopped for a traffic violation.

Prepare to take care of yourself, and the need for that is escalating rapidly.

When my best friend and his wife, went to the sceen of their son's traffic accedent, the father informed of ccw (required in Ohio), the OHP trooper asked if she was carrying. She replied she wasn't licensed. He replied that she needed to be soon, if she saw what he saw, she'd never go unarmed again.

Sheriff Chuck Wright in Spartanburg County SC has been saying the same thing for a long time.

Most sheriff departments serve rural areas and understand the need for responsible citizens to have their own protection. The police departments with inner city issues like gangs and other thugs are less enthusiastic about individuals having firearms. In addition, the high density population areas are typically democratic politically. We have a fight on our hands and we need the support of these LEO's, House members from the rural districts, and all congressional members from red states. Keep those emails, letters, and calls going to those that have the most to lose if they are part of the problem.

Yes, but this county sheriff is from Milwaukee county, in which the city of Milwaukee is located.... One of the poorest, most violent cities in the US.

I am genuinely appreciative of CCW permit holders that actively carry. We need as many people as possible pressing the issue of protection/self-preservation mindset. More and more friends and family carry these days and it gives me a little more piece of mind knowing it.

Folks, when you see a LEO making statements like these, get yourself to the nearest print and electronic media site (in our case the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel) and express your support or he, and his views, in writing.

You don't need to sign your name, just show your support.

The problem today is a very well organized opposition that immediately chimes in against the Sheriff Clarke's and Sheriff Joe's of America.
