Shield 40 Mishap

Well I sent them a email last Saturday 11/16/13 and ask if they had any new news. Told them I was told I would get a call within the next 10 days cause my gun was sent to a manager cause it was done in testing. Well its day 16 because I was told on the 5th that the call would be within 10 days. Told them I'd been without my gun for 6 weeks. I got a email back Sunday saying a note had been sent to the Manager to give me a call about it. Well today I got a call this is Mark from smith and wesson I was told I needed to contact you. I said yes about my 40 Shield. He said yes then started explaining to me how it has to go through testing and all. I said I know that I got a email 13 days ago saying in within 10 days I would get a call that my gun was done and test results were in and the call would be about the gun and the test results. He was like what we have nothing here about your gun. He said let me look into it and I will call you back today if I have any different info. Well guess what no call. Its almost like nobody knows whats going on. IDK but my blood pressure is rising. What do you guys think?

I think you've been a helluva lot more patient with them than I'd have been. At this point I'd be calling them 3x a day until I got some good info from them. I think the whole issue has been poorly handled by S&W.

I'd keep calling until I got some answers. Nothing ticks me off worse than getting the run around.

Yep, get in their nerves.

S&W was run better when Golden was CEO. I don't get a warm fuzzy feeling with Debney as CEO.

Yea I've been pretty patience with them. I mean I've only emailed them 2 times the whole 5 weeks. Just to ask if any new news about my gun. I only emailed them the 3 time cause they said I would get that call about the gun and results within 10 days and it had been more than that. Then I get this call with the guy acting like I had something to tell him is why he was calling me and had no clue about my gun. Makes me wonder whats really going up there. I don't want to get rude about it but to be honest I'm about ready to.

At this point, your treatment by S&W is pretty ridiculous.

I understand that they have a lot on their plate with the Safety Notice, but one would think that they would move an exploded pistol to the front of the queue and expedite their examination and replacement of your pistol.

I don't want to get rude about it but to be honest I'm about ready to.

It isn't rude when you've been given a warranty and promised a return only to be shuffled around and forgotten. If I were in your position, everyone up there would know who I was. You've waited long enough.
I know they need to get to the bottom of what caused the destruction of your pistol but you as the customer should be taken care of in due time.

Right now, today, I'd be calling and asking to speak to the CEO. I would be polite, but rather insistent that my problem be addressed, and action taken TODAY. Just my two cents.

I was once advised to NEVER send a firearm that was involved in a catastrophic failure back to the manufacturer. The reason should be obvious. They are in sole possession of all the evidence.

There are independent laboratories that are very capable of examining the pieces involved and determining probable causes in an UNBIASED manner.

Here's hoping the OP receives a satisfactory resolution.

I'm thinking it may be time for us to flood S&W with calls on the OP's behalf. 6 weeks wait with a call that says, I don't know what's going on with your gun. Bad gun or bad ammo is irrelevant at this point. It's time for an answer. Yes, I know they won't talk to us about what is going on with someone else's warranty claim, but let them know he is talking about it with us and we are all dissatisfied in the lack of response by S&W. I can't think of how many times I have read about S&W's superior customer service and this just isn't acceptable.

Whenever you find out what happened let us know. Glad you are ok.
I have a shield .40 and have shot about 250 rounds of mixed ammo so far. Cheap and good stuff. With no issues.
I couldn't get this gun to stovepipe or jam in any way.
I hope s & w gets it figured out.

Ok I have been very patient with this situation about my gun. It has been 7 weeks today since I contacted you about this problem. On November 5th I was sent this.
Dear Customer, The gun is being transferred to the Customer Service Manger you will receive a call in the next ten days on the gun and the test results. If further assistance is required please reply accordingly.
Sincerely,
Michael DiFiore
It has been 3 weeks today since I was told I would receive the call within 10 days. On November 18th I get a call from a guy named Mark that acted like I had something to tell him and had no clue about my gun or what I was talking about. I think its time for some answers. If you could have someone call me and tell me what's going on I would greatly appreciate it.

I just sent them this. They will call tomorrow but who knows what they will tell me.
