I have a friend who is very petite and has a real problem pulling back the slide of her Shield 40. Is there a replacement spring anyone's used to reduce the amount of force needed to manually pull back the slide, yet still allow the weapon to function properly?

There is an aftermarket company that makes a stainless RSA for the Shield, but if I remember correctly, it's around $80-$90.

The name of the company can be found if you do a Forum search for Shield SS (or spell out stainless) Recoil Spring.

I think the drill is to hold the slide using your left hand with an over hand hold while the firearm is close to the body. Push the frame away from you.

Youtube isn't working so well for me but [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Al2rMXpw6c0"]this[/ame] looked like an example of what I'm saying.
