My 45 shield eats everything, so far except 200 grain swc's. what appears to be happening is the last round, and only the last round in the magazine does not feed straight, causing a jam. The round is at a slight angle to the chamber. The round hangs up on the bullet edge because it is not feeding straight. Does this on both mags. The round will fire and passes plunk test, etc. Is there an issue with the 45 shield and swc bullets? Thanks

What is your cartridge overall length? Are you using the H&G #68 bullet, or close facsimile? Correct taper crimp?

My Shield works fine with #68s at 1.250". Taper crimp 0.468-0.469".

Try seating the bullet out a little farther. This is a problem most likely caused by the overall cartridge length. Be aware that you may create more problems than you solve when you do this. Your Shield may never work 100% reliably with that bullet style. I honestly haven't shot many SWC's through mine as I tend to load bullets that have a more rounded profile for my non 1911 45's just to avoid this very problem. Good luck and report back when you get your problem solved.

Bullets are #68, but coated. Will not plunk at 1.250, and my crimp is at.70.
Looking around it seems that the m&p 45's sometimes have a short leade. I think that is my issue here. Seated bullets at 1.430 and passed plunk. With 4.0grains of B.E., I don't think this will be a problem. Hoping that I don't have a problem with 200gr rn, but we'll see.

If everything in the mag feeds and fires except the last round, I'd ignore the ammo and look at the magazines. Maybe see if you can come up with and install some stronger springs and maybe replace the followers.

Nice area where you're at. I used to live in Oak Harbor when I was a kid. My dad worked at the Sea plane base installing a new radar system. Good luck and good shooting.
