Shield 45 and the Grip is Amazing!! UPDATE, range report

can anyone who have a shield and the XDS post some pics next to this, probably next to the 45c !!! that would be sweet to see.

I will later, Shield is about 1/8" longer and 1/4" higher than XDS

I think I paid $345 for my 9mm Shield with a 3rd mag. I would pony up the $419 for one in .45, if I can find one. Curious is extra mags are out for it yet and if it would fit in my Alien Gear Shield holster, thickness is just a matter of an extra washer, I think..........

I want one!

Have not seen any Shield 45s at my LGS yet but drove over to the coast this weekend (2 hrs away) to see Styx in concert and found a really nice gun shop. They had just got the first Shield 45 in and I was able to handle it. I thought it was going to be to big but after handling it for a bit, I really liked it. Very thin yet just feels good in the hand and I liked the new stippling. The trigger is pretty good, short and crisp. I don't know how it will shoot but as I said it felt really good in the hand. I almost bought it,
I mean I was so close but decided to wait a little longer to see some reviews first. Man it was hard to walk away.

I picked mine up from my local FFL last night, ordered it online last Friday night.
Magazines loaded very easy, I had no issues getting the last bullets in them.
Might go today after work and put a few boxes of ammo thru it to see how it runs, depends on the weather.
I'm hoping Pearce makes a grip extension for the 6 rnd mag, get that pinky on there.
Might try to smooth out the sear a little, feels a little gritty compared to my friend's Shield 9 with the Apex kit in it.
No LGS have any of them in stock, so I might actually have the first Shield 45 in Maine..........LOL

Well I was in Guns & Leather this morning and They had a 45. I held it and it fit my hand really well. I liked it but they wanted $479 so I passed. I can get one cheaper I'm sure. Just hate to have to buy 45 ammo on top of what I'm already buying. But one is calling my name somewhere.

Put one on lay-a-way tonight, should pick it up Monday, maybe Tuesday. Love the feel of it top to bottom, and the trigger seems great right out of the box. $420, tax, title, license, out the door. I think S&W hit a home run with this one.

Just bought one, when getting ready to clean before first use the Sear Release Lever fell out when I moved it. Now waiting on S&W to repair it (and they are on 2 week shutdown - UGH)

do you mean the slide release stop? how is that exactly it fell off?

I think he means the sear deactivation lever. Its the lever one lowers when field stripping to avoid having to pull the trigger. If so its easy enough to put it back in place unless something actually broke.

Why should I buy that when my CS 45 has a great trigger, is DA/SA, the mags all load fine the first time, and it is metal outside, slide is stainless steel, it is accurate, and shoots great.

It fell off when being moved to the "down" position, I believe the tensioning spring was not installed properly (at least it looked that way) or the lever itself was not seated where it should have been. I have 2 other M&P pistols and neither have ever had the problem.

You are correct, it was the "deactivation" lever. It looked like the spring that retained it was somehow popped to the side.

Well, the New Shield 45 got a small but for me, huge, modification this morning. Plus 2 layers of inner tube which fills out the grip perfectly. Much more natural draw, with no grip adjusting from draw to shot, and points better. Was pointing to the left slightly before removing that overhang.

Went by LGS today and they had received several shield 45. Really liked the new grip and how it felt in my hands. Grip a little larger than my shield 9MM. Did not leave with one today going to go back and trade cz 75 compact for one. Going price 409.00

I'm sure I will pick one up after they become MA-compliant and we are allowed to buy them in moonbat Massachusetts (no doubt with another "trigger from Hell"). But am I the only one who finds the front slide "mini-grip" kind of silly and, yes, even ugly?

It's not offensive enough to stop me from buying one, but it's something where I wish S&W had left well enough alone.

I agree about the front end slide grip machining. I wish they would spent that cost on a formed front light/laser picatinny mount on the frame. (My Ruger SR40c has that front mount and I really like that Ruger included it.)

As much as I'm not a shield fan, I handled a new 45 shield this week and instantly liked it. Grip profile and finish seems much better than the 9/40 models. ( The overly thin and slick grip is my biggest gripe with these to date.) I just may have to give the 45 flavor a whirl when the opportunity arises.

Yeah, I think it's both ugly and silly.
Pretty worthless as cocking serrations.

No, I think it's pretty ugly, too. Looks like someone dropped the slide in a grinder and it got chewed up before they could fish it out.
