I had a chance to fire my new Shield 45 and had absolutely no problems of any kind.
I did notice the strange primer strikes though. At least strange to me. Is this normal for this pistol?
It almost looks like a combination of a centerfire firing pin and a .22.
There are no holes in the primers. Just shadows.

Is this your first striker fired pistol?
The shells look perfectly normal, and the "swipe marks" are made after the pistol fires and the bullet is out of the barrel.

Can you further explain what is making the "swipe marks"

Thanks Matt

It's not my first striker fired by far. It's the first to leave this mark, though.

That's surprising you have not seen it before. The 9mm M&Ps make a similar mark that is less obvious, but definitely not just a perfectly round dimple.

The round dimple is made by the strike, and then the complex movement of the primer and then the case being driven back as the barrel starts to move while the striker is still withdrawing leaves the "swipe." Glocks leave a similar mark that is enough different to tell which is which.

I pick up a lot of range trash brass after matches, some of which (like major 9) looks pretty brutal. The "striker swipe" is harmless.

Thanks. This is my first M&P. I haven't noticed my Glocks doing that.
Oops, did I just say that I have some Glocks? Yep
Another thing that I noted with this Shield...it's probably the best behaved .45 acp that I've ever shot!
