Put about 270 round through my Shield 45 today, The gun functioned flawlessly and very accurate.
200 rounds of American Eagle 230 grain FMJ
70 rounds of Winchester 230+P SXT (Ranger)
Recoil was totally manageable, even with the +P rounds, Really couldn't tell the difference between my Shield 40 and the 45. I was very surprised by the mild recoil and the ability for a fairly quick follow up shot. Again the gun is very accurate, Shoots itself if you will. Have a wright leather IWB holster for my shield 9mm which the 45 fits in pretty good.
So far I'll be comfortable this being my EDC gun, pretty decent capacity (going from a Glock 23) very very accurate and it a 45acp. Will shoot s few more hundred rounds prob tomorrow but so far so good I really like this gun

I had the chance to shoot a rental last week, very impressed it was better than expected, very accurate, recoil is min. I have the shield 9mm honestly didn't felt much difference.

Yep, Smith nailed the 45 Shield, all those who are recoil conscious, unless extremely so, will be greatly surprised

Thank you for the range report. Your experiences mirror many of ours. :)

Same here, 1SG. I am also considering moving from the G23/27 EDC rotation. Capacity was a bit of concern, however--the weight, feel, and width on the 45 Shield can't be beat in my book. This platform is a winner. I'm just waiting for the major holster guys to get going on some lefty gear. Giving it a daily shot this week--so far...so good.

Thanks, I have several other post's where i preach capacity over comfort. Especially after a Mass shooting its the news. Not that bigger guns are hard to conceal its a comfort factor, Although a very slight comfort factor. I was of the mindset 110 plus on tap in my EDC gun, I carried a G23 and Sig P320 in 40 for along time.
bought this Shield45 and really like the way it conceals and shoots. And I am pretty comfortable with 8 rounds on tap. This Shield is incredibly accurate, more so than I. So thats a comforting feeling, My carry round is the Winchester SXT 230 +P which has recorded some pretty decent street results. I am playing around with maybe going 185 grain, I heard/read that in shorter barrels the light bullet is better. Anyway, I like this shield 45 i"ll be my EDC for a while i guess.

another 300 rounds tonight through the shield 45. NO malfunctions had one (1) FTF during the first about 200 rounds Was with a SXT rounds which hit the bottom of the feed ramp, I attribute that to the "break in" period. over the 600 round mark and never had that problem again. The gun is a dam shooter, more so than I. Extremely accurate and a real soft shooter even with the +P 230 SXT. Not 100% sure on the new stippling, It looks great but after about 50 rounds it starts to bother me Might try the talon grips, cheap enough and easily removed if needed
real nice gun S&W really killed it with this gun (Like all the shields)

Hey, Top, congrats on your .45 Shield. These are amazing little hand cannons. I've seen one or two complaints, but based on the rate they're flying off the shelf, problems are all but non existent. Your experience is pretty much a reflection of what everyone else with the Shield .45 has seen. If the texture becomes uncomfortable, take some fine sandpaper to the surface. That will take the sharp edges off. Talon grips and Agrip are good options if you need a little more. Enjoy, Good Luck and good shooting.

Thanks for your service!

A friend just received a 45 Shield last week, I had a chance to shoot it this morning at the club.

WOW! Accurate, recoil was not that bad at all, the stippling is more aggressive than my 9 MM Shield. I love it, looks like the 9 is going to get a BIG BROTHER.

Available in Safety or No Safety model, I think I like the NO SAFETY MODEL FOR EDC. WOW AGAIN, LOOKS LIKE S&W GOT THIS DEAL RIGHT FOR SURE.

Without a doubt the most surprising thing about this Shield 45 is its accuracy. Couple this with a decent capacity and nice thin/light frame make this a winner. I am carrying more and more--good holsters on the way...kydex holding me over. This platform is damn near perfect for business attire and an urban environment.

Admittedly, being in a sanctuary city, I still find myself reaching back for the G23 on occasion.

Bought the .45 ACP Shield a few days ago. Shot 80 rounds right out of the box including some lead FP hand loads and factory JHP and ball. Everything shot fine, no issues at all. The only complaint I have is the very sharp stippling on the grip. I also have the .40 and 9MM Shields and carry one of them in an ankle holster, with no problem. I tried with the .45 and it hurt after an hour. I ordered Talon rubber grips to take the edge off before I go to sandpaper. I've had the 9 and 40 since they were first introduced and even though I'm a Glock guy (been to Armorers School), it's hard to beat the Shields for EDC. When going into really bad areas or want more capacity, I often carry a G23 OWB and Shield .40 on the ankle.
