Have a 9m Shield ver1. Like it but don't especially like my 6 lb trigger. Wondering after reading many posts if it is worth the time/effort to add the Apex sear to it. Do not want to invest the money for the whole kit so sear only other than some polishing etc. Will I see a substantial difference? Can I do the install myself or do I need a gunsmith? Many questions seeking answers. I have moderate skills but after watching a few videos not sure if I would want to do this myself or not.

Opinions please........

My 9mm 1.0 Shield had a trigger pull I did not like so I installed the Apex sear. Sear only. It now has a 4.5 lb trigger pull. Install is easy, just follow the 'how to' videos on youtube.

I installed an MCARBO spring kit in my Shield .40, but then put back the original striker spring for assured ignition.

The biggest difference in all of it was following the polishing of parts on the You-Tube video they had made.

Really cleaned up that trigger pull!

Like others stated, I installed the Apex sear only and polished all points of contact. Made a major improvement. Trigger breaks consistently at 4 lbs 1 ounce.
I couldn't get my rear sight off so I took it to a local smith, he removed it and when I was done with the trigger I took it back and he installed Truglo's TFO sights.

"Worth the trouble?" Yup. Do it. Yourself. And polish the two trigger bar interfaces, one with the sear and the other with the striker block (safety). Huge improvement.

I literally just got done installing the machined sear on a shield 9 ver1. I still want it to be a fighting pistol, not a bullseye gun. It's perfect. Sub 4.5 lb trigger, clean break, short reset (audible reset is overrated). I have no desire to mess with trigger shoes and springs. This is all I need. Make sure you have the right punch and an armorers block really helps. Otherwise watch their video it's pretty easy.

The apex sear worked will with my Shield 9mm 1.0 and was a noticeable improvement over stock. Cleaner break and lighter. Depending on your taste, wouldn't discount the apex trigger as well.
