Shield a +1 gun?

Why the hell would you NOT have +1? This thread is retarded.

Seems a lot of assumptions are coming up as of late. There are also people that won't top off magazines to avoid any potential issues in many different firearms, including rifles. With so many different opinions and traditions out there, it's hard to make everyone understand reason unless they hear it from the head himself which in this case, is S&W.

Retarded, sure but I like to see threads like this go away or at least be around for anyone else with a similar question.

Really, I mean REALLY!!!! Can't believe someone even posted this thread to ask this question. "Common Sense" is not very "Common" in this case. Wish I had the three minutes back of my life that it took me to read this and post a reply!

IS the OP serious about this question?

i also have a question...could the 9mm rounds the Shield shoots be used for putting holes in paper as well as humans? S&W said this is a self defense pistol and therefore made to shoot people. the manual never mentions shooting paper targets....think it will be ok?

I shot my Shield for the first time today. I fully intend to carry mine 7+1 so when I was at the range I shot it just that way. That 7 round magazine is tight fitting fully loaded. I wanted to make sure a round was stripped from a fully loaded mag after the first shot was fired. The gun had no issues loading JHP when starting out 7+1. This isn't a double stacked M&P FS or compact. You are sacrificing rounds with a Shield in exchange for a smaller package. I suggest you get as many rounds loaded as the pistol will allow.

This is what I was looking for, being new I didnt know that every semi-auto is a +1 either

I'm next in line with S&W, but I just had a thought. It may be because it comes with 2 different capacity size magazines unlike the other models.

ETA: On hold for 54min now. I was first at position 9 but I wonder if anyone is even there now.

ETA#2: Obviously they cut out early since I called before they closed. I'll try again tomorrow morning and update in this thread.

I sincerely hope you are totally joking....

Oh, I just looked at the manual... If you load the magazine backwards, it's a +2 gun. :D

It's always what the magazine holds which varies with every type/make of magazines, and the +1 is the round in the chamber (if you carry one chambered like most of us do)

I am guessing that you are pretty new to firearms? If so .. good to know. How else are you going to learn if ya don't ask? Anyways, some of us here reeeaaally needed the comical relief, and you were IT :o

You guys better be careful now, you don't want some over zealous prosecuter to send you to prison for life because you carried +1. Just back down the capacity by one and you can't be prosecuted for carrying too many rounds in the gun at one time. It's true, I read it in an email from an internet lawyer.

He's right. In fact, maybe it's best just to leave it unloaded in the box. Put it way and forget you ever bought it.:D

question about the shield, everything I have read so far makes not mention about this, but is it a +1 gun?

In fact the fact sheet on the website even makes no mention of the fact either

Now that's a legitimate question guys!

Glad you got the answer you were looking for.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. There are no dumb questions, just dumb answers.

I guess sometimes alot of people forget how they started back then...

If God is all powerful, can he make a rock so big that HE HIMSELF can't lift it?

Well now that's just silly talk. Do what I do. Field strip the pistol, carry the frame in your right front pocket, carry the slide in your left front pocket, the magazine goes in the back pocket of your choosing, while the ammunition for the magazine rides loosely in the other back pocket. I like to call it "Condition 18", which is 15 Conditions safer than Condition 3 carry.
