first time to the range the white dot fell out. If the dot falls out again am going to replace sight.
after field stripping the gun for cleaning and reassembly the slide would not lock back. the slide would go back and stop just before the slide lock. after several tries it finally locked back. tried it again thinking it was something i did and it did it again. took to LGS and they could not figure it out either.

I had the same issue with my .40 Shield not locking back after being field stripped. I had to rest the barrel end of the slide on the edge of my workbench and then push down with both hands to get the slide locked back. Once it locked back it was good until the next field stripping. After about four or five cleanings I never had the issue again.

Glad I don't have one of them Shields.Seems like everytime I get on here someone is complaing about theirs/sending it back/or just getting it back.

I'll have to look back through the threads again. I missed all those complaints. Either that or you don't get on here often. I've seen far more positive posts than complaints.

I waited a long time for mine and it has turned into my favorite carry gun of all time, Its light and flat, I haven't had any trouble with it except it shoots a bit left and the rear sight is super tight and I haven't had the heart to hit it hard enough move it over,

After all the good reviews, I thought I would pick up a 9mm shield and should be here mid week. I currently have a Kahr CM9 and Sig 938 and like both of them. Just couldn't resist the Shield as it got such good reviews and I am partial to small 9mm handguns. Anyone have experience with all three and would like to fill me in on your thoughts? I know the 938 is a different platform than the other two, and frankly, I like it better than the Kahr (simply because I haven't shot enought with the Kahr to do a full evaluation. I wasn't a huge fan of the long double action pull, but it was very smooth. I did trigger work on my 938 and 238 and they sure are sweet. About 5lbs now. I have heard the shield has a very good pull. What say you?

My son is a Sig fan and has several including a 238 and a 938. Of course, I have shot his and he has shot all my M&Ps. In the past when we discuss their respective merits he has always said he "just doesn't like" Smith & Wesson pistols. (He likes their revolvers though). Then I bought a Shield and the first time he shot it, after he shot the first full mag he looked at me and said "Sweet. Real sweet". First time he has ever said anything complimentary about an S&W pistol. Now after putting about 200 rounds through my Shield, he is looking for one to buy. As for me personally I find his 938 to have noticeably more recoil and muzzle flip than the Shield. The 938 is slightly smaller than the Shield. To be fair, since I have shot my Shield a lot more than I have shot his 938 it could be just what I am used to. Oh, and he paid nearly 2x for the 938 vs. what my Shield cost. For other opinions take a look around on the Internet and you can find some comparative reviews.

You don't have to look very far 5 different posts just on the first page.

But the thousands of them that work flawlessly don't get talked about because there is nothing to complain about........

Because a lot of owners are not members here and know nothing about this site.I have 5 FS M&Ps and they work fine after some striker issues with my fullsize 9.The 45s and the .22 have been great.

Having spent many years on car forums, I know quite well how bad news travels faster than good news, but some of the issues reported are old issues that either occurred in the other M&Ps or should have been resolved after affecting early Shield production.

On another forum I frequent, someone posted a photo of a NIB Shield where the recoil spring hole on the front of the slide was out of round. It looks like it got drilled twice. How do they excuse that passing their outgoing inspection?

I hope mine is being built on a Tues/Wed/Thurs...
