Shield engaving problem?

did you look at it at the store ?? or just the one in the case ?? How did you miss it ..

When I got my 40c I looked it over for 30 minutes before accepting it .. the same with my Beretta .. made sure it functioned properly and cosmetically looked as it should ..

Don't think the BG is going to notice it as you shoot him !!

That's a S&W logo, I would think it's in the companies best interest to treat it with some respect and make sure it's applied appropriately.

I once worked for a very large pay check company whose logo was red and they would absolutely lose their mind if the color red was not the very specific red that they used or if the logo was used incorrectly.

I say they at least replace the slide.

Dude, I don't care "cosmetic" or not. Don't care. I bought a M&P shield I was told it was American made. THAT MEANS QUALITY PRODUCTS.

Son, It's been along while since "Made in America" was synonymous with or guaranteed a quality product. Besides even the best manufacturers allow a lemon slip out the door occasionally. However, I do find that the best companies stand behind their products and will generally do their best to rectify any problems... even cosmetic ones.

Why not just run it down a ruse wheel and de badge it all together.
Put a nice shine on it? I did it to my satin finish 640. I hated the looks of it so I ran it over the wheel a while. It shines like a nickel plated gun now.

Ahhh, the dreaded Friday afternoon gun! They probably rolled the slide at beer-30 on a Friday!

An annoying cosmetic flaw and if you catch the right customer service person you might get a new slide. I would definitely run a fair amount of rounds thru it before you make that call to make sure everything else is hunky-dory and operating as it should.

If S&W doesn't concede that it is a warranty item, I would chalk it up to not paying proper attention at the LGS and shoot the snot out of it. I'm sure it will prove to be a trusted c.c. gun for many years.

BTW, from your last picture it looks fine with the lettering whited-out.
