Does anyone have any updates or idea of when they are going to start releasing an extended mag release for the Shields? I have the catalyst for my full-size but of course they don't make it for the Shield as well as I don't think any other companies are either.

Kind of bothers me that they have em out for all the M&P line except the Shield; I figured by now it would be an option.

I personally don't see the practicality of one on the Shield. It really isn't your classic competition gun where it might come in handy, its a small thin concealable self defense gun, and could be prone to accidental mag release in a holster. Just my 0.02.

I am decidedly svelte in build, so an extended mag release is likely to print on me.;) Seriously, I don't get the idea of an extended mag release on a pistol built for concealment.

A 9mm Shield has been my EDC since they were introduced. I own two, with a few minor tweaks. If you carry concealed, an extended magazine release not only has no purpose, but in fact may lead to the mag being released, or at least unlocked at a very bad time. Why an extended one for a gun designed for concealment ? I understand the desire for it on a competition gun, but for that purpose, get one of the regular size M&Ps or even the longer slide version.

I still carry mine OWB 99% of the time and for my hand I would like the extended mag release. I have one on my full-size and I love it.

I can understand that most using this for concealed carry aren't to worried about it but different strokes for different folks.

So to answer my question, there isn't anyone making one as far as anyone knows?

You have to have some tiny hands to need an extended mag release in the Shield.

bump, i'd like an extended mag release on the shield. it's never going to be my carry gun. it's not pocket sized.

?? Just because it's too big to put it in your pocket doesn't mean it can't still be a carry gun.
What's wrong with IWB ?
Why buy a compact gun like the Shield if not to carry ?
Range gun only ?

The LF-Arms Extended Mag Release for the Shield is the ticket -- it does NOT stick out further, rather it is less tapered from the highest point, i.e. closer to flat. Nicely made. Recommended.

Here you go... UPDATE: Enhanced Carry Mag Release for S&W Shield !

Some people on Facebook have said this looks very close to the LF Arms extended mag release...maybe LF Arms sold their left over stock (after closing) and/or sold the drawings/design of the extended mag release to Advanced Holster.

It does look like the LF-Arms -- flush with the grip at the rear edge, and flat, rather than tapered toward the front. I found that shape works very well.

I carried Shield 40 for 11/2 years. Now I carry Shield PC 45. Very pocketable with cargo pants. I use the Tech pocket on the left leg for the 7 round mag.

I was just about to say Hyve Technologies. I asked for one on my Christmas list so hopefully Ill get one ;)

I also really like their extended magazine base plates. I have 2 of the +2 base plates for my 8 rounders and will probable pick up 2 more
