Shield Fix for Difficult to Rack Slide

Just wondering if anyone makes a less powerful recoil spring for the Shield 1?
There jas been a lot written about the stiff slide since the Shield came out. My wife (67 at the time) also couldn't rack it until we ran about 300 rounds through it. It will losen up on its own.

I use the Arachigrip on my slide. It is skateboard tape that is cut to fit the contour of the slide and down over side serrations. I have little need of it since I load with slide locked back and don't monkey with my pistol until it runs dry except to disassemble and reassemble during cleaning. It does look good and gives a good solid grip though.

Well, clearing a malfunction comes to mind . . .

I look at it this way... Whether at the range, or when carrying, I only actually need to rack the slide the first time I load a magazine into the handgun... IF the slide is closed. After that, I either do a tactical reload (swap mags before firing the last round) or an emergency reload (the mag is empty and the slide locks rearward). Either way, there is no reason to rack the slide after a reload. The most one would need to do is release the slide (much easier), rather than completely racking the slide.

. . .

To which I repeat, WHEN are you going to need to rack the slide? Not during either a tactical, or emergency reload.

Racking the Shield 9mm

I had a big problem racking the Shield 9mm when I first got it.
Then I found this one and problem solved.
When I posted this about a year or so ago I got a ration from a lot of the diehards, saying it wouldn't work, it will just screw up a good gun, etc. but after using it for a year or more I found it to work just like they said it would. Like I said, now I don't have a problem with racking the pistol: You can get it on Ebay.

Here's your fix: Buy a different pistol. There are multiple similar options out there. Visit a range that lets you rent guns and try some out. Like Gramma Muggins always said, there's a lid for every pot, and you don't run around bending lids or pots to make 'em fit . . .

Yep. It's my one complaint about the Shield 9mm. Locking the slide back when you have a double feed so you can drop the mag is tough. So is a single handed slide rack on your belt/shoe. Both can be done, but hard.
