Shield killer

The Shield is very shootable. That, and the price, assures it will sell.

I don't find it any more concealable than my G26. But a lot of people hate the grip on the subcompact Glocks while the Shield is pretty much perfect for all but the biggest mitts. I'll take a slightly less ergonomic grip for 4 or 5 more shots (+2 mags in the Glock).

I handled both at the LGS. They both feel great to fondle (why wouldn't they? They're the same grip. :)), but the proof is in how they feel to shoot.
The G43 shoots fine with it's shorter grip, so I'm guessing that the 43X and 48 will both feel just as good (if not better).
I do prefer the proportions of the G48 over the G43X.

But... Shield Killer??? Nope... Even though it's a Single-Stack (actually... a Stagger-Stack... Like the Shield and 365), it falls more into the Compact category, than a Subcompact category, like the Shield.

Here is Mac's latest vid comparing the 43X to the Shield, i got concerned when he said he had put Magguts in his Shield and the Magguts worked but only 98% of the time!

The only Shield killer I've found is...my age! I find myself shooting my PC .45 Shield less and less because my hand joints ache for a couple days if I fire more than a hundred or so rounds in one session. Even worse when I practice weak hand shooting. Now I take it to the range about every month or two just to stay proficient (use as part of HD).

The Glock 43X offers 10+1 magazine capacity but still remains a very slim profile. Some writers are calling it a Shield killer. I presume because of the increased capacity. The one thing they don't factor in is price. From what I've seen online, it is pushing the $550 range. I can purchase a new Shield for $350.
After rebate I only paid about $250 for my Shield 45. That means I could buy two Shields and carry duals with 14 rounds of 45ACP for less cost than one "Block" 43X.

To each his own but that looks "F---ing Ugly" the Hyve ext has no grip texture i have a Strike +2 on my 7 rd. mag and tried one on a 8 rd. mag but looks ugly as "Sin" especially with the mag sleeve above it!

But the picture with the Hyve  is the worst/ugliest i have ever seen!

First Pistol Loyalty Brand

Once again, Glock is late to the party. It's still bigger than a Shield and even bigger than the P365. Still Glock fans will clamor over this and buy it in droves. This is more like "keeping the fan base" and not erode the competition.
My title pretty well explains my feelings....from being a member of the Glock Forum too. Many newbies choose Glock I believe due to the popularity of it. Also, due to near give away sales to our PDs
many cop's first pistol is also a Glock. Taking nothing away from Glock (Owned a G26 and sold it and have a G43 and keeping it)
I realize there's a lot of after market things offered for Glocks and to some extent they're easy to add these parts to__but, not one of my S&W pistols or Sigs seem to need "improvement" for me. I do
have a Romeo 1 sight on my P320 and one on my S&W Shield as well as on my G43. I just feel these (quality ones) reflex sights adds not only more enjoyment but substantial accuracy beyond twenty feet for most of us.
If I wasn't retired and still an active cop__my sidearm would have a reflex sight. These do not interfere using the original iron sights that remain on the firearm.
In short, far too many after market parts and accessories available and sold to Glock owners for that pistol to really be more perfect than other quality pistols.
And, I carry my G43 (Shield RMSc reflex sight) often due to living in the Tucson area where we love our hot weather and dress accordingly.
I also pack my Sig P320 this time of year with a very light covering garment. (Fantastic pistol)
Stay safe

Are you happy with the Strike adapter?

I'm picking up a LNIB Shield 9 this week and I'm considering adding the Strike +2 adapter to my seven round magazines.

The Strike +2 adapter is the best there is since not only does it feel and look well but improves my grip, since the standard 7 rd. in the gun does not give me enough grip and the 8 rd. mag is barely OK with the grip!

I did try to put a Strike on the 8 rd. mag but U still have to use the mag sleeve while it works and fits fine on the 8 rd. mag it is to long and looks "Ugly" as hell!

I also bought a Magguts +2 and put it on the * rd. mag and only adds 1/4" and it seems the best solution.

Not cheap since 1 is around $34. + $3.50 shipp.

The 1st gen Magguts was pure **** and even the 2nd gen had issues which was in 2016 for 3 months due to bad materials they got and they did recall all of those.

The only issue with the Magguts i had is when u use a loader
as soon as u push down to insert 1st rd. the Magguts bullet feed ramp almost stood up vertically and i thought it would jump out.

Called them and they said load first 2 rds manually!

I have big big bucks in mags put out , if we go VOTE this might not happen , I will never just turn them over . The Dems are a joke shame on us if we let this happen .

????????????????????????????????????????????????

That has "ZERO" to do with mag extensions! Sight fixed the mag capacity with the P365 but sadly its a ***!

I checked one out and it really seemed fine. Think a thin G19.

For anyone in the market, check out that G48. Glock should have brought it out a lot earlier and BLACK. I think it'll be a better seller than the G43x.

I'm curious if you have, or have handled/shot, a S&W 39xx series pistol?

I have owned and carried a 3953 since 1991 and I have to say that when I handled the G48, it felt very "familiar".

I'm not positive, but I think that other then being just slightly longer, the G48 should match up pretty closely, in size, to my 3953.

I'll likely be purchasing at least 1 G48, and depending on how it shots..............

The 43x is nice, it reminds me of an updated 1911ish size gun.
I suspect more manufacturers will be rushing a similar size gun to market.
It won't replace my Shield 45 but it will get some love in the rotation for sure.

While I just might buy a Sig P365, I don't think it will replace my 9mm Shield. The Shield is just too good of a gun to give up, a great carry gun.

Yes, the Sig carries more ammo, which is why I might own one, and I think it will appear in my case, or on my belt. On days I don't want more ammo than it provides, but more than the Shield. I already have guns that are compact, like the 2.0 and the 9c, and the RAP 9 Compact, even the Taurus PT111, and fill the more want.

A Glock, never again - I just don't shoot them well. Maybe if they correct that grip angle?

I really see nothing out there as a Shield Killer, at least not yet!

MHO

Don't be so sure😁 I picked up a P365 a couple weeks ago. It's one sweet shooting machine. Only a couple hundred rounds through it so far, couple hundred more and I'll probably carrying it, which means it'll replace my 9 shield(obviously not getting rid of it, it's one of the early models and has been perfect). The P365, even with 12 round mag prints just under the shield size wise, excellent trigger.

And I'm mostly an M&P guy, have 5 of their pistols.

Im a Glock guy ... But Im not rushing out to buy a 43X or a 48 .. My 43 is just right .. for my carry needs .. But ..after I pay my taxes ... A M&P 9 Compact is on my short list .. I have spent a fair amount of time with my brothers... and that pistol is sweet ..

Some more fuel for the fire.
I own several GLOCKS and even built one of those Polymer 80 compact guns. I love my GLOCKS but when I went on the hunt for a thinner/smaller carry option, I chose the S&W Shield over the GLOCK 43. Why? Because the Shield is simply a better gun all the way around, in my opinion.

Then I decided I wanted something a bit smaller than my GLOCK 19 for my EDC. Something in between the 19 and the Shield. Guess what? I bought the 2.0 3.6" NOT the 48 or 43X!

I now think S&W has at the very least equaled GLOCK in quality, product selection and has definitely beat them up on pricing. I haven't been a GLOCK guy for too many years but I think my time with GLOCK is waning.

I won't be bashful here as some have. I'm a Glock hater....just a terrible grip angle for me and I've always hated the hype. But they are good tool guns for people that like them.

Don't currently own a Shield but they are a screaming great gun for the money. I prefer the M&P compact over the Shield though.

I really think the best slim compact polymer gun is the Walther PPS M2 version.

Most of my daily carry guns when I'm not packing a full size guns are 3rd Gens (4014; 3913 NL and LS, CS45 and similar).

If I'm going to carry a polymer compact gun it's a Walther PPS, M&P or FN.

But hey, I'm a fairly tall guy with a big frame and really prefer to carry a alloy framed 3rd gen, Hi-Power or 1911.

Dont and wont own a Glock period. My buddy has one hate it.
Grip angle is unnatural
Trigger is horrible.
Just dont feel it.
45 shield is awesome.
Great feel
Nice trigger
And picked up some ext mags that now hold 8 so its 8+1 and a spare 8 on weak side.

The added length makes the grip even a better fit in my hand. I previously only used the 7 rd mag anyway. Sold the 6 never liked it. Grip too short.

And my 4046 and 4516-2 gen 3 SWs are joys to shoot s well.

I also recently purchased a Sig P365. I have almost 500 rounds through mine and couldn't be happier with it. The hype is real...I can pocket carry it with the 12-round magazine. Accurate and reliable. Truly amazing handgun.
