Has anyone had the chance to compare any of the various Shield models with the Performance Center version? S&W says the PC version is much improved but I'd like a less biased opinion. Thanks, Don

Thanks for the useful and informative posts. Tells me I won't be buying a Shield of any variety. NOT dumping on them at all, I'm sure they're good guns.

I'm always looking for something "better" like most gun enthusiasts. My primary CCW is a Ruger SR9C. Like all the features including the obvious loaded chamber indicator. The gun has been monotonously reliable, 1100 rds, two FTFs, cheap ammo issues, solid primer strikes, no ignition.

So, having tried a Shield in a store, the trigger isn't as good as the Rugers and it's really not noticeably smaller so no purchase. Don

There are many people who happily EDC a compact pistol, and there's nothing bad about that. The Shield, like other subcompacts, rides the edge of size and weight for a combat caliber. The side profile might be similar to a compact, but the width and weight are significantly to your advantage (ounces and fractions of an inch being significant, from the perspective of EDC). If you like Ruger, maybe you should check out the LC9s. Good luck and take care.

Love my performance center shield 9mm, shoots great, excellent feel in the hand. I'm a Glock guy at heart but I decided to try the M&P so I could give actual experienced opinion to my customers. In my mmopinion the PC Shield is an excellent CCW if you want the ultimate concealment. The trigger is considerably better than the regular shield. Even though I had a recoil spring issue, Smith sent a new one and now 300 rounds through it running flawless. Talon rubber grips are awesome on it

The one I tried in the store had a trigger that was better than a stock shield, but the difference isn't as much as a regular fullsize and my Pro Series. Sights are whether or not you like fiber optic. I didn't get to shoot it so I don't know if the porting is worth it.

I wish I could answer your question. I have a traditional Shield which I really like so I ordered a PC. Been on backorder over a month.
