Shield or Shield Plus

A lot of people upgraded to the 2.0 adding 8 more rounds seems like a no brainer.

Someone convince me why I should get a Shield Plus when I already have a 9mm first-gen Shield and a 45ACP shield.

The biggest reason for upgrade is I carry my plus with the 13 round mag and would rather have that then the 7 rounder. also the trigger on plus is way better. also forgot to mention the grip texture is far supperiror

I bought a used Shield in 2016, probably had never been shot. I've made up for the lack of shooting. It shoots everything I put in it, I am comfortable carrying and shooting it. I will keep it.

I am so blessed,

Leon

Yep, like others have said. Lot more round for a very slightly large imprint. Better trigger also!

After carrying and using a 1911 with 8 rounds for 51 years, why is it all fired important to go to a higher capacity shield 9? Choose the proper ammo, practice shot placement, 8 rounds or 13?

remember when most carried a rev. w/ only 6 rd. and some carried w/ only 5 rds.

I have the 1.0 with crimson trace got the plus just a heads up there is just enough difference that the c/t doesn't quite fit it will go on but there is a little gap at the rear of the trigger guard the plus will fit the same holster the difference is so minimal in the grip I don't really notice I have carried the 1.0 for years ITWB and pocket I like them both and will keep both. If your looking for a reason to buy then you must want it other then the five rounds not much reason. But you will still like the plus.

Some people think 5 are enough so they carry a J frame. I like the thought of more capacity and not much bigger size (Shield Plus). If I go back to a polymer frame it will probably be the Shield Plus. It depends on what is important. As much as I am a proponent of greater capacity, I like the feel and weight of my all metal Kahr K9; 7+1 capacity, 2 spare mags. Ergonomics are important to me, so for now I am ok with the capacity of my K9.

The new S&W CSX seems like the cat’s meow, excepting the fact that it is single action. I am holding out in hopes that S&W will make it in DA/SA
configuration.

At what capacity do we say “this is enough weapon for me”? 6, 8, 12, 15? I think that the answer will differ according to each person’s comfort level, risk, and circumstances.

I may eventually get a Shield Plus but I'm not in any big hurry. I currently own three Shield 1.0 versions, two in 9mm and one in .40. I am also looking for a Shield 45. The three that I own have proven to be reliable and if I carry an extra magazine or two I feel covered for most any situation that I am likely to encounter given the places I frequent with me being retired. I also have a full size M&P in .40 if I feel I need something more. If I didn't already own the three Shields that I have then I would probably think differently about getting a Shield Plus.

I got's me 3 of those there 45 shields and let me tell you, they give me serious pause about switching from 50 year carry of the 1911 to the 45 shield.

I said serious pause, not mental breakdown, I still, and will always carry the 1911.

I would like to have one of those EMP 4?'s. Looks like a 3/4 size 1911. Anybody have one they want to comment on?

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Have both the Shield 1.0 and the Plus. After breaking in the plus the 1.0 sits in the safe. The plus has a better trigger and more rounds even with the flush fit mag. Up to you if you have the extra 500 bucks get the plus if not nothing wrong with the 1.0 Shield. I have over 2500 rounds through the original without an issue.

I been beating myself up over the same question! At first the Shield Plus trigger felt weird. But now the more I’m playing with it I love it. The 13 rounds is nice also. But like others have said, Magguts. I have a 1.0 w/Trijicon HD and I stippled the factory grip design only with a fine point solder gun. Looks and feels great. Just recently put in a bid on Gunbroker for the Shield 2.0 w/Integrated Red Crimson Trace and got it shipped to my FFL with tax for $406. Had to buy the Green Crimson Trace, haha for $82. A lot better color imo. A few months ago my step dad gifted me a 2.0 EZ 9. Sweet *** gun with a nice trigger. Now you can see I like Shields. I’ve had roughly 30 carry guns over 25 years and really love them. At least for me. If the Shield Plus had an integrated Crimson Trace I’d jump. I know their is a red dot cutout Plus that comes with Orange nite sites installed that is an option but you still have to aim. A bright *** green laser is nice. And as for a flat face trigger I can do an Apex for $80-$160. Wish-the Plus had the rebates going as a Few years ago. If you don’t have any other shields I’d say get the plus. I think it’s a sweet gun and i haven’t had any problems with any of them.

Just because!!!! I have a 1st-gen Shield in a 9mm, and bought a Shield Plus 4" and I like it just as much. And one can never have to many S&Ws!

I'd like to have a Shield Plus in 40. Obviously, I have no idea if S&W will make one and I don't know how much capacity they could squeeze out of it compared to the standard Shield. I'm generally a S&W fan but I already had a P365 before the Plus came out so there's no real point to me getting a Plus in 9mm. I've been very satisfied with the P365.

I had a Shield 2.0, liked it. I then bought a Shield Plus, and liked it too. I would have kept both, but someone offered me a Glock 21 Gen4 as an even trade for the Shield 2.0, so I got rid of it.

The Shield Plus is a little heavier, but to me, it's one of those things that I wouldn't necessarily upgrade if I already had the older one, but I don't see any reason to buy the older one if you're starting out today.

Likely that in an unfortunate incident, you will be out of time long before you are out of ammo. With whatever you decide to carry.

Stick with the shield 45 and use the savings to buy ammo to practice with. Cause the first shot is the MOST important. Not so much the 10th, or 13th. ;) Good luck with your decision. Regards 18DAI

I have a Shield 9mm EZ. I haven't carried it yet, only fired a couple hundred rounds, shoots good but low. After it proves out I may carry it after I file down the front sight. I returned it to S&W but they said it's my problem, they won't repair it. Right now I carry a 642 in my pocket, I'll have to carry the EZ in a holster, may or may not carry it.
