I bought the original Shield 1.0 when they came out. I sold it a year later since I carry my Ruger LC9S and it’s a bit smaller.
Years later, they were almost giving 1.0 Shield’s away when they came out with the 2.0. I bought it just because. I have several other M&P pistols and I like the line.
When the Shield Plus came out I sold my 1.0 to offset the cost. The trigger and the grip texturing are much better.
I just bought a 1.0 yesterday. It is a new, old stock NYPD weapon. Got it for $246 including shipping. For that price, I couldn’t really lose and I like collecting NYPD weapons.
Bottom line, the Plus is certainly an upgrade to the 1.0 and even the 2.0, but it’s not such a leap that it’s a must-have. I never felt outgunned with 7+1.
I shot my Plus last week with my 3953. I’ll always prefer a hammer for carry but I gotta admit I shoot a striker slightly better. A human target wouldn’t be any less dead if I hit him with my 3953 but the groups were tighter with the Plus.
My groups were also tighter with my Plus when I shot it side by side with my 3913.
