Shield Plus (10 round flush mag) in the works

The Max 9 has the Security 9 styling. But It's much more closely related to the LC9s. It's a striker gun, not a concealed hammer gung like the Security 9.

I know. But the Security 9 took some other shortcuts. It was billed as a budget friendly gun.

The P365 has more capacity than the Shield, while being slightly smaller. If I can have more ammo capacity with NO DOWNSIDE, why wouldn't I go with that? Are you saying it's better to have less ammo?

Still burning question. Why the obsession with a mini 9mm that holds 12-15 bullets? Heck sometimes I still carry a J-Frame.......IT ONLY HOLDS 5. FBI statistics reveal that most gun altercations between individuals(we're not cops) are resolved with 3 shots or less.

NO OPTIC CUT + 1913 RAIL = NO BUY
The SIG p365 XL with the Tactical Development Rail is the choice IMHO.
Manual Safety to appendix carry for me.

Love my Shield V1 in it's day, but too little, too late, in 2021.

Nearly 3 ounces heavier, and wider and taller than the Sig. Plus the MSRP is higher than what the Sig was at its release. Don’t see how this is gonna take much market share from the Sig. I gotta admit it he excitement has left me. But the Ruger is in the running. Ruger is a hair bigger and heavier but nothing enough to matter. The Shield Plus looks like the same size as the Shield.

So a shield to compete with the P365, but larger, heavier, and more expensive. Sounds like a plan!

I hope in the good times it'll come down in price and do well, much as the shield was a fantastic buy when it got down under $260 with rebates. The shield was able to compete with the Sig and Glock offerings on price, even if I found it to be the worst (but still not a bad gun!) of the comparable options from S&W, Glock, and Sig.

I agree. I really like my Shield 1.0, but this new Shield Plus isn’t much of a game changer. The Hellcat and the 365 still have in beat in size and weight, two of the most important things for carry. The new Ruger looks promising, and my carry gun is a Ruger LC9S, precisely because every ounce counts, and the Ruger is lighter and smaller than the Shield. So I don’t see myself carrying the Shield Plus when I rarely carry the Shield.

Frankly, it looks like S&W did very little work on this new gun. They fattened up the original Shield in the grip to accept the fatter mag.

Several other models available too. A couple ounces heavier and bigger than a P365. Also priced about $150 higher than what I paid for my 365 in January 2020 but I don't know what those are selling for now.

I paid $499 plus tax for a new P365 last month at Sportmans Warehouse.

Christmas 2019 the Sig P365 with manual safety was selling for $399.
The price gouging now is ridiculous.

As much as I’d like to have a p365, my friends with gun shops are selling everyone they can get almost immediately for $499. I don’t call it price gouging. I call it economics.

This looks interesting. I have a Shield 2.0 I really like. About the only issue I have with it is I consider it ever so slightly too slim in the grip. Looks like this may fix that and add a few rounds to boot. I like how it fits the same holsters. Hopefully Smith has a bunch ready to dump on the market.

Just got the first in stock email, from NW Armory. $499 with or without safety, with a 13 and a 10 round mag.

Not sure what I’ll do if I find one with two ten round mags. I say I’m not a buyer but I’ve said that before haha.

Looks like Ruger has beat S&W to the punch.
Ruger has released their Sig P365, Springfield Hellcat competitor, the Ruger Max-9. Looks like it will be a great competitor and they may have gotten it out just before S&W releases their version scheduled for today, the Shield Plus.

Yawn, fit 10 40 or 45 in a flush mag on a Shield and I'll be impressed. Until then I'd take the Sig 10 times out of 10. Hell the new Ruger looks better than the Shield Plus and will undoubtedly be cheaper to purchase. And they just released it on a FB post without the need of a two week hyped up release event. I love S&W but they can learn a few things from other companies occasionally.

Excuse me - I'll stick with my 3913NL - 9 rounds all up, and S&W never made a better concealable 9mm pistol. I think 9 rounds should be sufficient for seriously discouraging up to 9 assailants (I'm a damn good shot). Also - re-strike capability and choice of double or single action. Perfect reliability.
