My LGS had several versions of the new Shield Plus but not the version I wanted, until now. I opted for the Performance Center version with a 4" barrel, no thumb safety or optic cut. This is just the way I wanted it and as soon as I picked it up I patched the barrel and headed to the range. Loading the mags to capacity was a breeze thanks to my Uplula loader. The first major improvement IMO is the trigger. It breaks clean (for an M&P) with a short audible reset. Next the fiber optic sights are fantastic for my aging eyes. Lastly the biggest selling point the larger capacity magazines.
I think this new Shield Plus will do well against the competition. I had a Sig 365XL but it would not reliably feed my favorite carry load the Federal 147 grn HST. I'm happy to report the new Shield Plus was flawless with this load, along with my practice Federal 147 grn AE FMJ. I just put a quick 100 ends thru my new Smith and soon it will be off to get the slide NP3 plated like my first Shield. So far I'm very happy with this new Shield.

The sites are perfect, to me. Not too bright, not too dim. If someone wanted to own “just one gun,” this makes a good candidate.

Nice. I too like 147gr HST for carry. For that matter, I like 124gr HST for carry as well.

I'm interested in seeing how that slide turns out after getting NP3'd!

I'll be posting photos when it gets the new finish. I forgot to mention the PC Shields comes with a near pocket size cleaning kit.

Mag318, What does that version cost?

I finally got to see the 4 inch and the 3 inch yesterday. The one I handled had the fiber optic sights and cut for the red dot. It was priced at around $650. I wouldn’t necessarily need the red dot cut out but if they’re available for what the new Glocks are, I’d love to have one. I really liked the way the 4 inch felt in my hand though. That would be my pick.

I just picked up my Shield Plus Performance Center 3.1 with ported barrel. It is excellent and superior to the Sig p365 and Springfield Hellcat. I am hoping to add the 4" Performance Center to the collection for fun. My son now wants to buy a Shield Plus for himself after shooting mine.

I've had Shields since they first became available. In those days, we all wanted a compact, flat 9mm for off-duty and back-up. I've had at least one Shield in my inventory ever since. I bought the first Shield Plus I could find, a 3.1" with safety and was duly impressed. I love the trigger and capacity. A few weeks later, I found a Shield Plus PC with the porting, F/O sights and RDS. Like most others, I really like the F/O sights for my older eyes. The CT RDS that comes with it is sufficient for the time being. Prior, I had been carrying my 1.0 and 2.0 Shields, as well as a G43, a G43X and a P365. The Glocks have since disappeared. In fact, the only Glock I have left is an old G19 I carried as a detective and off-duty many years ago. All others have been replaced with M&P models. The P365 sits in the safe and may be sold. I think I've come back home and will stay there.
