I guess I'll have to buy some new sights for my gun. My rear sight dot fell off, so now might as well by some night sites for it now the question Is what kind? I was waiting for some tfo, just for the shield to come out, but who knows when that will be.

I had installed XS Big Dot.

I enjoy the combat sights.

The back sight does not illuminate but I prefer the low profile rear sight for pocket carry.

Good riddance I say! I paid money to buy sights that are plain black (and steel) on my Glock.

Get rid of all the dots; or at least rear ones. They distract from a front sight focus.

Thanks for the tip! I'll use liquid white out for now, until I find out what sights I really want to put on.

These dots have been falling off for years. You would think at some point S&W would fix the problem. Never happened to me because I always change the sights.

Good Grief Man, get hold of yourself, real MEN don't use sights anyway, and what are you complaining about, you were fortunate enough to find yourself a Shield, and yours at least still goes BANG! Now go find yourself a HOLLYWOOD GUN MOVIE where they turn them things on their sides----you just can't miss using the URBAN technique, and never worry about sights again..... OH and quit your whining or we'll send you to the Ruger Forum!! billy

Gotta like trolls!! There's always one around. Anyway I like the big dot sights now its between the tfo and those.

The front dot fell off my shield 9mm after about 80 rounds.. Was going to put night sights on it, but sold it before I had a chance.. So now I am expecting no more then 50 rounds on my shield .40 before loosing a dot.. Already looking at night sights as well. Will probably go TFO's as the overhang I see as a non issue with as little overhang as it is.

My Shield .40 lost the front white dot within the first 250 rounds. S&W just replaced the front sight while they had the gun in for a couple other issues. It is working great now. I often wonder why they do not just paint the dots on the sights.

Lost the front dot on my Shield 40 after 17 rds. Haven't decided on whether I'm going to replace the sights or paint it again. Just been shooting it as-is since so I guess it's not a big deal for me.

My Shield40 points so well, I probably don't need the sights anyway. And I was actually hitting closer and in a tighter group yesterday one-handed than I did with a two-hand grip!

For now, I've just used florescent red/orange and green nail polish on my sights, and it works very nicely. And to make the gun stand out even more and a bit more distinctive, I used and antique metallic gold nail polish to fill in the lettering and logo on the slide. It looks exactly like a real gold inlay, standing out beautifully against the black.:)

I had my front sight dot fall out on my 40c. I just used some acrylic paint meant for wargaming miniatures to fill it back in.

I just received an e-mail from Ken Levin, CS Mgr. at TruGlo and he told me to expect an update from him in early August as to the progress of the Shield specific TFO sights.

Easy there new guy.... Billy is just funnin' with ya.

If he really meant it you'd know for sure. :p

I wouldn't use white out, but a good shiny acrylic paint in a glow color works well. White out is kind of flat. And while it dries super-fast it's not real durable.
