Shield sights digging in my side

I have a bit of a belly and carry my shield 9 in a custom kydex holster at 3 o clock. It has a full length sweat guard and I softened the corners on the sights with a stone.

I wear a good 1.5" gun belt and wear an undershirt tucked in between the gun and my skin. Never have an issue and forget I am carrying at most times!

I've got a "spare tire" as well, and I carry everything from my Shield to a full size 40 at 4 o'clock with no discomfort or printing. The trick is to cant the pistol a bit (FBI cant) so that it's tilted slightly forward. This keeps the grips in tight to your body instead of sticking out and showing the world you've got something under your shirt.

For me at least, mid hip (3 o'clock) is not happening. The guns are uncomfortable and it looks like I'm hiding a bag of flower under my shirt.

Appendix carry? Don't even go there...

I think you're right, that's exactly what it is. What kind of holster do you use?

I had same issue as you a few weeks ago. I carry iwb with a foxx trapp holster. I had it at 3:30 and the sights poked into my side a bit as i am 250 lbs. The gun is canted butt forward a bit and i switched to the 4:30 position and it solved the issue.

I gave up on IWB holsters they are too uncomfortable for me. I use a OWB pancake and a loose shirt. Works great and easy to draw from.

This.

I own several IWB holsters and hate 'em all. If you want IWB, you might look at N82, it has a big pad on the back that keeps the gun off of you, even with the spare tire I carry with me. But OWB is SO much more comfortable. Living in Florida, nobody looks twice at someone wearing a "Hawaiian" style shirt untucked, or a Columbia fishing shirt. Both give good concealment.

I go back and forth between a standard Kydex and a nice leather IWB holster with a thumb break. Again, in the right location I can wear either of these all day long against bare skin with no discomfort, even with a full size 40.

As has been said, a good quality belt is critical too for proper support. I have two 1.5" 5.11 reinforced dress belts that I wear during the week, and one of those tactical web type belts that I usually wear with jeans. Just take some time and experiment until you find a spot that works best for you. Also, remember that since you just started carrying anything you do will probably feel "weird" for a while until you become accustomed to daily carry. After 3 years, for me putting on a gun every day is just like putting on my shoes or a watch - don't even notice it.

Two words that I have never been able to use in the same sentence are: IWB and comfort. I have found the Shield is so easy to conceal with all day comfort

I carry with a Crossbreed Mini Tuck at the 4 o'clock and had had no problems. It has been very comfortable even when sitting. Have more problems from my stupid cell phone cutting in my side. I love the Sield 9.

I carry my shield in my front pocket. I am ready to stone the razor like edge off the rear edge of my rear sight. The sight is wearing a hole in the top of my pants pockets!

 you'll shoot yer eye out kid!

I'll 3rd the N82 for comfort. I used to carry a sub compact XD40 in a N82 and it was
very comfortable.

Try a N82 holster...professional series. Covers the entire gun.

N28 is a very comfortable holster but my pants was to tight to get all that pading and the gun in my waist band. Another holster added to the holster drawer. I have two of those the original and the Pro.

I did file the left top corner of the rear sight to round it. That helped a lot. Don
