Shield w Apex Flat-Faced Action Enhancement Trigger

I put the carry kit in my Shield last week which significantly improved the trigger. The LGS where I bought the kit didn't have any triggers in stock so I ordered the new Flat-Faced Action Enhancement Trigger directly from Apex. I got it installed yesterday. I like the way it feels and it definitely improved my accuracy.

Looks can be deceiving.
The feel of the trigger makes it well worth it.

Does it change the trigger reach?
Does it change the pre-travel?
Does it change the over-travel?
Does it reduce the room available in the trigger guard?

This is interesting, because "officially" the Flat Face trigger requires the Forward Set Sear, and isn't supposed to work with the Duty/Carry sear/kit.

"***This trigger will only work in a Smith & Wesson M&P pistol which has an Apex Forward Set Sear installed. The Apex sear may be identified by the 3 dots in the surface on the right side of the sear.***."​

Now, that may just be Apex being a bit cautious b/c the very short travel and reset length of the Flat trigger is designed around having the FSS sear/kit installed, while the Duty/Carry kit is a different geometry all together. They may define "requires" as we want you to buy the FSS/kit b/c the DC kit may not be 100% reliable with the Flat Face trigger - that I don't know. But it is interesting that you got it working with the Duty/Carry sear without issue... . Keep us posted...

Does it change the trigger reach?

Yes. It extends the reach by a little bit, but for me it forces me to place the pad of my index finger on the center of the trigger.

Does it change the pre-travel?

Yes. It reduces it a bit.

Does it change the over-travel?

Yes. It reduces it a bit.

Does it reduce the room available in the trigger guard?

Yes. It reduces it a little. I have small fingers, so it's not a problem for me. Someone with bigger fingers might have a problem.

Apex has two flat face triggers and you're looking at the wrong one. This is the Shield trigger.

Ah...yep sorry - missed the Shield specific part of it . Interesting that the Shield version works with the DCAEK but the standard model doesn't appear to.

Wait, Im confused. I looked at all the triggers, even the "action enhancement" ones, and it all states the quote below.
So does it mean that any of the triggers, just the trigger, can be used on the Shield, without any other upgrades?
