Just got my label from S&W for some repair on a revolver. I've found a Fedex Authorized ShipCenter Shipping and Postal Unlimited online, and the others are dropboxes, which the note says no-go at the dropbox. Can I use the shipcenter? I've only dealt with a UPS Sevice Center before.

FEDEX Shipping

Why not go directly with FedEx carrier? They will pick-up the container at your home/business, at no charge to you I experienced this last week. S&W received the revolver this AM, 3 business days from CA for a modification.

I try to catch the FedEx driver at a stop on his route and hand him the box. He scans it right away putting it in the system.

I have a FedEx center a short ways from my home. I drop there and within 2 days it's received by SW. price isn't bad but it's only going from Maine to Massachusetts.

FedEx? Remember what might happen if you send it via FedEx:

The shipping center should will be fine. I used a local shipping center last month when I sent my revolver back to S&W.

I went into the store and told the clerk I had a firearm to ship. I then asked her if it was ok for me to bring the pistol into the store in its factory blue box. She said that would be fine. Once in the store we used one of the FedEx boxes that S&W paid for, attached the prepaid label, and sent the firearm back. S&W had the pistol in less than two days.

The process is very easy and chances are the person working at the shipping center is familiar with the routine.

I've sent firearms both from FedEx and UPS. No problems with any of these companies. I would just go to their main office, fill out their form, pay them, and it's all good.

They'll come right to your door. Choose "schedule a pickup" from the site and put in the info. Why go to a store and wait in line?

So it is OK to ship directly to or from a manufacturer, but not to/from an individual? I see the logic for shipping to an FFL for an interstate sale, so he can do the registration & background check. Never understood why so many FFL's want to only receive a handgun only from an FFL.
Can I ship UPS or Fedex to another individual, if not a sale? Suppose, for example, I want to give a handgun to my son. Suppose it's to my brother in NY?
I'm trying to see the big picture, but not getting there.

Federal Law specifically provides an exclusion for firearms repair. Don't make it more than it is.

Well, the placed shipped it no problem. Now, about how long to wait to get it back? Hope the deliver it while I'm here as I work nights.
