Shooting a J frame

Good shooting.

I shot my LCR 357 with XS 24/7 front sight Saturday in a Steel Challange Match in BUG Division. Our match is normally set up to reload after 6 rounds, In BUG if shooting a 5 shot, that is all you fire. No penalty for not firing the sixth shot. I had a little trouble getting a couple of the Full Size Pepper Poppers down. We were having them move a little which was messing with the adjustment.

I had not planned to shoot the LCR so I did not have my HKS speedloaders with me. I borrowed my brothers Quick Strips, and reloaded using them. Very good practice using the quick strips.

We have an ICORE match where for an extra 5 bucks you can shoot a second gun.

Every now and then I pay to shoot my 642 as a second gun. Didn't do too bad except in the loading department. I can't load the 642 speedloaders near as fast as I can my Model 64.

Plus I noticed the 5 rounds vs 6 since most stages are geared for 6 rounds.

But still, it's great practice for a SD Carry revolver.

I put on a PPC series during the winter for our club. I include a BUG match, 33 rds at 4, 7, and 10 yds on a B-27 target for the J frames and little .380's etc. It's great fun and "enlightening".

The match director has it set up to only have 6 required shots per shooting area. If you have a 5shot BUG it only requires 5 perfect hits. C zone or better. If not, its the bad hit plus a miss for the 6th shot.

Does Safariland make a speedloader for the LCR? I found they are a lot easier to use than the HKS.

Looked like fun. :)

Several of us shot J-Frames at a local Steel Challenge match. It only takes 5 shots per string - - - - - - if you don't miss. ;)

I'll be shooting in an IDPA BUG match this coming Sunday. I'm going to use the BUG I carry on duty, it's a custom 9mm S&W 360J. Great shooting little gun and fast to reload since it uses moonclips and the 9mm rounds are so short. Ought to be a good time!

Thanks for the corrective criticism. But I keep the extra speed loaders in my left front pocket. How would I retrieve them with my right hand for a perfect revolver reload?

Put them in your right pocket!
