Yes ... it will fire .
I subscribe to 5 gun magazines , just recently I read another article where they tested loads ... sans barrel S&W model 19 (every few years someone drags this subject up) but I can't remember which one it was ... Gun's Magazine does this sort of stuff ...or it may have been in Handloader or Handguns ...

The writer had bought the no bbl S&W as a "parts only" gun so since he had it ... and needed a story ...here we go , he wrote one .
Bottom line ...it will shoot and accuracy past spitting distance was poor .
